Job description

About the company

the company’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.

About the role

We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead the team that builds and runs the company.com and claude.com, brand web surfaces where most of the world meets Claude and the company for the first time. They carry our research, product launches, policy work, and brand, and they ship at the pace of a fast‑moving company.

You’ll manage a small, senior team of web engineers, owning the full stack behind our marketing web: CMS architecture, the publishing pipeline, the design system in code, and the campaign and launch experiences tied to model and product releases. This role sits inside Brand Creative and partners closely with design, editorial, marketing, and product growth engineering. We want a player‑coach: comfortable setting technical direction without an existing playbook, staying close to the code and the launches, and building the tooling that lets designers and editors publish without an engineer in the loop.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and grow the team: coach, hire, and set the bar for craft and reliability
  • Own the technical roadmap for the company.com and claude.com: CMS architecture, publishing workflow, performance, SEO health, localization, the production design system, deploy pipeline, on‑call, and incident response
  • Run launch engineering for model, product, and campaign moments, shipping high‑quality pages on tight, shifting timelines without heroics
  • Build the brand tooling layer: internal tools, integrations, and Claude‑in‑the‑loop workflows that let designers, writers, and marketers publish safely without engineering as a bottleneck
  • Partner with design and editorial on creative technology, data visualizations, interactive explainers, campaign experiences, that need real engineering, not a template
  • Align web engineering work with Marketing, Product, Comms, and core Engineering, and say no to what doesn’t move brand and business goals
You may be a good fit if you have
  • 10+ years in software engineering, 5+ managing engineers, with that time spent as an engineering manager inside a marketing, brand, or design engineering organization specifically, not just a product engineering one
  • Owned a high‑traffic marketing or brand web surface end to end: CMS, frontend, infrastructure, and the publishing workflow around it
  • Strong frontend depth yourself, TypeScript, React, modern CSS, a modern headless CMS, and a real preference for staying close to the code
  • Built tooling that made non‑engineers faster and safer, with a concrete story of what changed
  • Shipped under real launch pressure with cross‑functional partners, without dropping the quality bar
  • Comfortable operating at the seam between Design, Marketing, and Engineering
  • Deep interest in AI and excitement about putting Claude into the build and publish loop itself, not just on the page
Strong candidates may also have
  • Held a Head of Web Engineering or equivalent platform lead title at a product company
  • Built localization and multi‑region web infrastructure
  • Come from a company where brand and product web sat close together: design tools, productivity, or developer tools
  • Led design systems or component library work that shipped to production
Benefits and Logistics

Annual Salary: $460,000 — $460,000 USD.

Minimum education: Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Required field of study: A field relevant to the role as demonstrated through coursework, training, or professional experience.

Minimum years of experience: Years of experience required will correlate with the internal job level requirements for the position.

Location-based hybrid policy: Currently, we expect all staff to be in one of our offices at least 25% of the time. However, some roles may require more time in our offices.

Visa sponsorship: We do sponsor visas! However, we aren’t able to successfully sponsor visas for every role and every candidate. But if we make you an offer, we will make every reasonable effort to get you a visa, and we retain an immigration lawyer to help with this.

We encourage you to apply even if you do not believe you meet every single qualification. People who identify as being from underrepresented groups are often affected by imposter syndrome, so we urge you not to exclude yourself prematurely. We think AI systems have large social impact, and representation matters; we strive to include diverse perspectives.
