Instructional Student Assistant Pool

POSITION

The Department of Marketing at CSU Fullerton invites applications for the position of Instructional Student Assistant Pool. 

Main duties include assisting faculty with teaching responsibilities but will include all of the following:

  • Collect and organize student submissions made through hard copy, Canvas, and/or other digital submission facilities.
  • Read, evaluate, and assign grades to student work. Maintain and submit student grades
  • Aid faculty in evaluating student work and examinations.
  • Provide assistance to faculty and Department Chair in searching for, collecting and arranging data and literature.
  • Assist the departmental office with the marketing program in providing guidance and information.
  • Assist administrative support coordinator and administrative assistant with clerical duties.
  • Meet regularly with a faculty supervisor, in-person, by phone, or by email.

This is a pool of Instructional Student Assistants for the department to draw on as necessary.

ASSIGNMENTS ARE TEMPORARY AND OFTEN MADE JUST PRIOR TO THE START OF THE ACADEMIC TERM. APPLICANTS MAY BE OFFERED COURSE ASSIGNMENTS ON VERY SHORT NOTICE. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Candidates must be a currently enrolled graduate student.
  • Candidates should demonstrate their ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to read, evaluate, and assign grades to student work.
  • Able to meet deadlines defined by university policy and/or supervisor.
  • Complete student worker training as required.
  • Excellent computer skills including Canvas, Office, Excel and PowerPoint and other spreadsheet and data entry experience.
  • Type 40 CWAM and have a working knowledge of library and internet research.
  • Must have an excellent command of English - both oral and written
  • Be able to follow directions, show initiative, be reliable and have the ability to assist with large classes.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate students in the College of Business

COMPENSATION

All Instructional Student Assistant appointments are made under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the CSU system and the United Auto Workers.   
Classification Range: $17.86 to $23.84 per hour
Anticipated hiring range depending on qualifications, not to exceed $19.00 per hour

The person holding this position is considered a 'mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse And Neglect Reporting Act and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.
