Amgen's Data Science organization is seeking a US-based Marketing Science Operations (MSO), Senior Manager (SM) to serve as the US business-facing lead for Data Engineering delivery within Marketing Science.
This role operates at the intersection of strategy, analytics, and operational execution. This role is responsible for translating business requirements into scalable data solutions and ensuring consistent, high-quality execution across data pipelines, transformations, and reporting enablement. The Senior Manager partners closely with the Associate Director and stakeholders to manage delivery, support KPI implementation, and coordinate across global DE and BI teams.
You will play a critical role in driving day-to-day execution, ensuring data reliability, and enabling downstream analytics through strong delivery discipline and cross-team collaboration.
This is a high-visibility role requiring strong business acumen, operational rigor, and cross-functional leadership.
This is a Flexible Commuter role based at Amgen's Deerfield, IL, or Thousand Oaks, CA site, requiring on-site presence 1-2 days per week.
Operations Leadership & Service Delivery
  • Lead and mentor Data Engineering Leads and global teams (Portugal and India), driving a culture of accountability, reliability, and continuous improvement.
  • Own day-to-day Data engineering operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery aligned to KPIs, SLAs, and enterprise priorities.
  • Oversee intake, prioritization, and execution through Jira and agile workflows, ensuring transparency and predictable delivery.
Stakeholder Communications and Data Vendor Management
  • Partner with internal and external stakeholders to align on priorities, set clear expectations, and ensure timelines are well understood and adhered to
  • Oversee data vendor governance, ensuring accountability for quality, timeliness, and other key performance metrics to maintain reliable data pipelines
  • Proactively communicate delays, risks, and unforeseen issues to stakeholders to ensure transparency and informed data usage
Business & Requirements Translation
  • Partner with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into data and pipeline requirements.
  • Support implementation of KPI definitions within data models and pipelines.
  • Ensure alignment between business logic and data engineering outputs.
Data Engineering Delivery Management
  • Oversee end-to-end delivery of data pipelines, transformations, and data models.
  • Coordinate with DE teams to ensure timely, accurate, and scalable execution.
  • Track delivery progress, manage dependencies, and proactively address risks.
Data Quality & Operational Reliability
  • Ensure data validation, QA processes, and pipeline monitoring are consistently executed.
  • Support issue troubleshooting and resolution to maintain data integrity.
  • Drive adherence to SLAs, refresh schedules, and operational standards.
Process Improvement & Enablement
  • Support standardization of data models, pipeline frameworks, and documentation.
  • Contribute to automation and efficiency improvements across data workflows.
  • Enable downstream BI and analytics teams through reliable, well-structured data assets.
Cross-Team Coordination
  • Work closely with ACCP, AIN, and offshore teams to align on requirements and execution plans.
  • Serve as the day-to-day coordination point between US stakeholders and global delivery teams.
  • Escalate delivery, quality, or resourcing issues to the Director as needed.

Basic Qualifications
Doctorate degree and 2 years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry
OR
Master's degree and 4 years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry
OR
Bachelor's degree and 6 years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree preferred.
  • A minimum of 5+ years of experience in data acquisition, digital media, data governance or analytics, ideally within a regulated industry.
  • Proven experience working with media agencies, publishers and vendors on data deliverables, negotiations and performance accountability.
  • Strong understanding of media data ecosystems (e.g., ad servers, DSPs, SSPs, clean rooms) and ability to engage technical and business stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional stakeholders in a complex, matrixed environment.
  • Familiarity with data privacy, compliance and risk management frameworks as they relate to digital/media data in regulated industries.
  • Strategic mindset with strong operational execution ability.
  • Experience in Media data acquisition.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills, able to translate data/technical issues into business-focused insights.
  • Strong project leadership, prioritization and problem-solving skills.
  • Highly accountable and results-oriented, with a collaborative and inclusive mindset.

The expected annual salary range for this role in the U.S. (excluding Puerto Rico) is posted. Actual salary will vary based on several factors including but not limited to, relevant skills, experience, and qualifications.
