Job description

UnitedHealth Group is a health care and well-being company that's dedicated to improving the health outcomes of millions around the world. We are comprised of two distinct and complementary businesses, UnitedHealthcare and Optum, working to build a better health system for all. Here, your contributions matter as they will help transform health care for years to come. Make an impact with a team that shares your passion for helping others. Join us to start Caring. Connecting. Growing together.

This position reports to the Sr. Director Marketing and serves as a senior individual contributor on the Optum Rx Growth & Retention Marketing team, supporting B2B marketing initiatives for a key strategic partner business segment.

The Senior Marketing Specialist plays an advanced role in executing and coordinating highimpact, clientfacing marketing programs that support growth, retention, and sales enablement efforts. This role operates with increased autonomy and judgment, managing complex deliverables, tight timelines, and crossfunctional dependencies while partnering closely with Sales, Product, Client Management, and external partner stakeholders.

The role requires the ability to proactively manage workstreams, anticipate needs, and ensure consistent, highquality delivery across recurring and adhoc marketing initiatives.

Primary Responsibilities:

Advanced B2B Marketing Execution

  • Lead execution of complex B2B marketing initiatives and client communications, managing work from intake through delivery with limited daytoday oversight.
  • Coordinate recurring marketing deliverables and ongoing communications aligned to established business rhythms, partner expectations, and external review processes.
  • Apply strong understanding of Optum Rx products and programs to ensure messaging accuracy and relevance across all clientfacing materials.

Sales, Growth & Pipeline Enablement

  • Independently manage development and customization of highstakes sales presentations, executive summaries, and finalist materials in support of active opportunities.
  • Partner closely with Sales and Growth leaders to interpret opportunity needs and translate them into effective marketing support.
  • Support demand generation and prospecting initiatives, ensuring marketing execution aligns to targeting strategies and followup requirements.

Product, Content & Digital Marketing Leadership

  • Serve as a primary execution lead for custom product marketing updates, program changes, and positioning materials used across sales, renewals, and prospecting.
  • Own updates and enhancements to partnerspecific digital content, including microsites or landing pages, ensuring content remains current and aligned to business priorities.
  • Translate complex, technical, or clinical concepts into clear, compelling clientready messaging and presentations.

CrossFunctional Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Act as a central point of coordination across marketing, sales, product, client management, clinical, creative teams, and external partner stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely delivery.
  • Proactively surface risks, dependencies, and timing conflicts, and partner with marketing leadership to resolve issues.
  • Manage multiple brands, cobranding requirements, and clientspecific variations with limited direction.

Projects, Events & Continuous Improvement

  • Lead marketing execution for events, webinars, campaigns, and special initiatives, including planning, content development, coordination, and postinitiative followup.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, templates, or workflows to increase efficiency and consistency within the marketing team.

You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or related field
  • 5 years of experience in B2B marketing, sales enablement, or clientfacing marketing roles
  • 3 years of demonstrated experience leading execution of complex marketing initiatives
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly PowerPoint
  • 3 years of experience managing multiple workstreams and stakeholder inputs simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Healthcare or pharmacy benefit management (PBM) marketing experience
  • Experience supporting enterprise or strategic partner relationships
  • Strong PowerPoint storytelling, formatting, and presentation design skills
  • Experience supporting demand generation, prospecting campaigns, or largescale sales efforts
  • Experience working in Marketo and Workfront
