Responsibilities
  • Guide the development of Design Plans from Preliminary thru PSE for roadway projects, including pavement restoration, ADA compliance, roadway reconstruction, Signing/Pavement markings, Multi-use Facilities, Work zone traffic control, complete streets, and drainage improvements.
  • Have a general understanding of other disciplines: structures, signalization, environmental/permitting, lighting, utilities, survey, and right-of-way acquisition.
  • Managing scope, schedule, budget, plans production, and directing of resources.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and actively assist, mentor, and support personnel (Jr/Mid/Senior Engineers).
  • Guide the development of contract specifications, cost estimates, and preparation of contract bid documents.
  • Provide Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) for deliverables
  • Communicate effectively and proactively to address client queries
  • Support targeted and personalized outreach efforts for local and regional transportation clients, while retaining and improving current client relationships.
  • Lead the highway disciplines marketing approach with targeted outreach, go/no go decisions and proposal development with support from Highway and Marketing Team.
  • Participation as a GPI representative within local Engineering Organizations and at local conferences.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from an accredited university
  • New York State Professional Engineer (PE) required.
  • 10 + years of transportation design and project management experience
  • Shall be self-motivated, detail-oriented, organized, and demonstrate leadership skills with a desire for growth.
  • Proficiency and experience guiding a team to develop plans using software applications (MicroStation, Open Roads, Civil 3D).
  • Knowledge of NYSDOT's Locally Administered Federal Aid project process and NYSDOT Standards.
  • Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) is a plus.

Requirements
  • Maintain a valid driver's license with a clean motor vehicle report (MVR) for final consideration
  • Read, write, and understand plans and directions given in the English language
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to create and edit Microsoft Word and Excel documents, create Outlook emails and utilize SharePoint and Microsoft Teams to communicate with other team members
  • Able to traverse a construction job site consisting of uneven ground varying in height and consistency of material, with a variation of elevation 19" or less (mud, gravel, rutted ground, etc.)
  • Able to wear GPI required PPE, i.e., hard hats, safety vest, work boots, and/or safety glasses/goggles while working
