Position Summary
This hands-on Marketing Intern offers the opportunity to gain valuable, real-world experience in a wide range of marketing initiatives for concerts, family shows, sporting events, and more. From grassroots promotions to digital advertising, you'll assist in creating buzz and driving ticket sales for some of the most exciting events in Western Massachussets. The Marketing Intern will learn how to handle challenging situations, which will require strong communication skills and problem-solving. The position is designed to provide opportunities that create learning and development experiences to enhance the intern's future career prospects.
This role pays an hourly rate of $41.24
This role is expected to last from Septmber 8, 2026, and will end on January 16 , 2027
This position will remain open until November 27, 2026.
About the Venue
The Mullins Center is the primary sports venue at the University of Massachusetts that hosts Division 1 hockey and Men's & Women's Basketball. The Complex also has a community ice rink that is operational 365 days of the year.
Responsibilities
  • Help the Marketing Department with events and promotions for The Mullins Center while learning about arena operations and functions.
  • Social media responsibilities. Working with BO manager on planning a media calendar for the building while learning best practices in social media engagement.
  • Conducting demographic and psychographic research for various events and projects.
  • Help proofread ad copy, radio spot copy, press releases, weekly e-blasts, etc.
  • Learn e-mail management, website management, and venue reporting at the Mullins Center.
  • Perform a variety of event-day responsibilities within the Marketing Department, such as assisting with in-game promotions, gathering consumer feedback, and helping with overall customer service.

Key Learnings:
  • Coordinate daily staff schedules and tasks for event setup, live management, and teardown.
  • Observe leadership in action by shadowing supervisors to learn team motivation and management techniques.
  • Analyze operational and capital budgets while assisting with vendor RFPs, bids, and invoicing.
  • Track and maintain essential inventory levels to support seamless daily operations.

Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate student. Recommended for Sport Management, Marketing, Communications, Management, or Hospitality Majors.
  • Must have effective communication skills.
  • Highly motivated individual with ability to work in a team environment.
  • Availability to work 10 hours a week, including evenings and weekends.
  • Must have working knowledge of social media platforms, including TikTok.
  • Well organized with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment.
