Job description

Internship Overview
As a Business Development Intern, you will be exposed to multiple aspects of Summit Farms extensive farming operation and other business development activities in agriculture. The position is responsible for managing projects and completing tasks in an accurate and timely manner associated with livestock facility acquisitions and construction, farmland management and much more. The position will be based at our Alden, Iowa headquarters.
Responsibilities
  • Assist in the development and oversight of construction projects under management.
  • Work with the livestock production staff on other projects related to business development.
  • Assist in managing farm real-estate assets. These responsibilities will include farm visits, assessing improvement projects, overseeing projects and developing and refining farm management processes.
  • Assist in drafting, executing, and managing many types of agreements including but not limited to Contract Feeding Agreements, Manure Easements, Cash Rent Leases, and Wind Farms Option Agreement.
  • Maintain and cultivate relationships with stakeholders, landowners, and community members.
  • Manage special projects as needed.
  • Deliver a final presentation to Summit's management team.

Requirements
  • Sophomore or above studying agricultural business, agricultural studies, or a related degree.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly entrepreneurial environment.
  • High level of interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Motivated self-starter with ability to work independently.
