Job description

The project manager for the Marketing Communications team plays a key role in driving the strategic marketing and communications vision of Creighton University. This role manages complex projects from start to finish and supports the day-to-day work of cross-functional team. The project manager ensures that campaigns and projects are completed on time and within scope by establishing deadlines and tracking and communicating the progress of projects. This position helps ensure that the team is focused on projects that drive strategic impact and move Creighton University forward. 

The ideal candidate will bring attention to detail, impressive organizational skills and a desire to create efficiency. The project manager should be a strong communicator and collaborator who is strategically minded: able to see how individual projects fit into broader marketing goals and objectives. The ideal  candidate will bring an understanding of content strategy and multi-channel marketing campaigns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manages complex marketing and communications projects from start to finish, including timelines and resource requirements and mitigates when needed
  • Collaborates cross-functionally to define project scope, goals and deliverables of projects
  • Creates the systems and structures that ensure that the team does their best work
  • Proactively identifies any risks to the successful completion of a project and mitigates accordingly 
  • Is familiar with project management software, such as Wrike, Asana or Monday.com, to track and manage workflows
  • Gathers data and analytics to report on the success of projects and regularly provides updates and progress to leaders 
  • Builds relationships across the UCOM team and university partners and maintains positive relationships
  • Successfully works with vendors and external partners and manages those relationships effectively
     

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business administration, communications or related field is required
  • 7-10 years of experience in project management, marketing or related area

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of principles of marketing (graphic design and content development) 
     
  • Proven working experience in project management
     
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
     
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
     
  • Solid organizational and prioritization skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
     
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to lead a team workload effectively
     
  • Ability to visualize and communicate simple and complex marketing solutions and timelines
     
  • Experience working with Wrike, an online project management software, is a plus
