LRE (Leeward Renewable Energy) is forging an American energy future with integrity, innovation, and positive impact. Born in Texas in 2003, we own and operate over 30 utility-scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in local communities across the United States, totaling 4 gigawatts (GW) of generating capacity.

Job Summary:
The Risk Analyst (P2) will build the Risk Management team and will be an integral part of day-to-day Middle Office operations and risk management activities at Leeward. The analyst collaborates closely with Front Office, Operations, Back Office, Finance, Compliance, and Trading Systems teams, supporting energy and congestion products trading. The Middle Office calculates profits and losses and assesses the risk exposure of the trading desk and oversees all aspects of market risk control, including risk identification, measurement, monitoring, and reporting across multiple energy commodity asset classes. Senior management relies on Middle Office reporting to monitor and control trading activity.
Responsibilities:
• Analyze, model, and report market risk for all Energy trading activities.
• Work closely with traders to quantify and explain the sources of risk in their portfolios.
• Contribute to senior management reporting on trading results and positions.
• Collaborate with Back Office, Finance, Credit, Legal & Compliance, and Business Unit Control to ensure strong controls, operational efficiency, and adherence to policies and limits.
• Assist in the development, maintenance, and implementation of risk management processes and documents that will efficiently execute and formalize the risk management/middle office requirements.
• Coordinate with Compliance to ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
• Support, identify, and assist in implementing process improvements, including system testing, system enhancements, and desk procedures.
• Work closely with the portfolio management trading team to ensure development of controls and consistent monitoring of risk across the platform. Including the development and deployment of Risk Reports, curve marking procedures, MTM reports, Value at Risk, trade limits and P&L reports.
• Analyze, monitor, and report portfolio risk metrics on a daily basis. Validate trade capture and tie out with Exchange/FCM statements.
• Ensure that LRE adheres to risk policies and procedures. Constantly evaluate procedures and policies to improve risk governance.
Qualifications:
• 2-4 years' experience in energy marketing and/or risk management.
• Solid understanding of ISO energy markets (CAISO, PJM, ERCOT).
• Understanding of physical and financial power and natural gas markets.
• Solid understanding of risk-based decision making.
• Ability to analyze and organize data to drive solutions and action plans.
• Ability to develop, build and maintain models in excel, Power BI and Tableau.
• Coding experience with SQL and Python preferred.
• Knowledgeable of Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) systems, Adapt2 experience preferred.
• Strong presentation and communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task and coordinate multiple information requests.
• Ability to meet deadlines and organize workflows.
• Able to operate with minimal supervision
• Must hold Bachelors Degree in Business or STEM.
• Proficient with Excel, Power Point Word, Power BI.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
• Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
