Job description

90-Day Project-Based Contract | Remote / Assigned International Geography

Company Overview

Verde Nexus is building a globally scalable ecosystem connecting AI-enabled education, workforce development, sustainability, agriculture, digital commerce, affiliate commerce, institutional partnerships, and marketplace infrastructure.

Designed for global participation across 47+ countries and 22+ languages, the Verde Nexus ecosystem connects learners, instructors, affiliates, vendors, organizations, agricultural partners, institutions, and strategic partners through an integrated digital platform.

While Verde Nexus is developing its initial U.S. flagship pilot in the Raleigh–Durham region, international market development is occurring in parallel. Our global strategy is based on disciplined market validation rather than prematurely launching operations in new countries.

Engagement

This position begins as a 90-day project-based contractor engagement assigned to a specific country, region, or international market.

This is a remote, market-development role. Candidates with direct knowledge, professional networks, cultural familiarity, language capabilities, or established relationships within their assigned geography are strongly preferred.

About the Role

The International Market Development Representative / Country Scout helps prepare future Verde Nexus markets through validated research, local intelligence, stakeholder relationships, and qualified introductions.

This individual will not simply perform internet research.

The Country Scout serves as an early-market intelligence and relationship-development resource responsible for determining whether a country or region demonstrates sufficient opportunity and readiness for future Verde Nexus pilot or market activity.

The Representative will investigate local:

  • Workforce-development ecosystems
  • Education and training institutions
  • Agriculture and producer networks
  • Institutional and commercial buyers
  • Government and economic-development programs
  • NGOs and community organizations
  • Sustainability initiatives
  • Digital-commerce environments
  • Affiliate and creator ecosystems
  • Vendor and marketplace opportunities
  • Potential corporate and strategic partners

The objective is to move markets systematically from:

Opportunity → Validation → Development → Pilot-Ready

without creating unsupported claims, unnecessary spending, or premature market commitments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct structured market research within the assigned country or region.
  • Map workforce, agriculture, education, institutional procurement, sustainability, digital-commerce, and marketplace ecosystems.
  • Identify universities, training organizations, NGOs, government programs, producer associations, corporations, buyers, and potential local implementation partners.
  • Research relevant decision-makers and maintain verified contact information.
  • Establish qualified local introductions and early stakeholder relationships.
  • Conduct preliminary outreach and market-discovery conversations when authorized.
  • Gather local stakeholder feedback regarding Verde Nexus programs and market relevance.
  • Assess cultural, language, economic, regulatory, technology, payment, logistics, and operational considerations.
  • Identify barriers that could prevent or delay market entry.
  • Evaluate whether local partners possess sufficient infrastructure and operational readiness.
  • Research local competitive alternatives and comparable platforms.
  • Identify potential institutional-buying, workforce, agricultural, education, vendor, and commercial opportunities.
  • Document facts separately from assumptions, estimates, and unverified information.
  • Prepare standardized Country/Market Development Dossiers for leadership.
  • Maintain assigned opportunities, contacts, evidence, and next actions within the approved CRM or reporting system.
  • Provide periodic market-development reports and recommendations.
  • Coordinate with the Global Operations & Partnerships Coordinator and Global Pilot & Strategic Partnerships leadership structure.
  • Support qualified market relationships through the development stage while avoiding commitments not authorized by Verde Nexus leadership.

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role means producing decision-quality intelligence and relationships, not simply generating large contact lists.

Performance indicators may include:

  • Completed and accepted Country/Market Development Dossiers
  • Verified local stakeholder and decision-maker mapping
  • Qualified introductions to credible local organizations
  • Documented market opportunities and constraints
  • Reliable regulatory and operating-risk identification
  • Validated workforce, agriculture, education, buyer, and commercial opportunities
  • Markets progressing from opportunity to development to pilot readiness
  • Accurate CRM and supporting documentation
  • Consistent follow-through with qualified contacts
  • No unsupported claims or unauthorized commitments made on behalf of Verde Nexus

Ideal Candidate

Strong candidates may have experience in:

  • International business development
  • Market-entry research
  • Country or regional market development
  • Economic development
  • International partnerships
  • International education
  • Trade or commerce
  • Agriculture or food systems
  • NGO/institutional development
  • Market intelligence
  • Entrepreneurship ecosystems

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Strong knowledge of or established connections within their assigned market.
  • Ability to conduct rigorous market and stakeholder research.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder-development skills.
  • Cross-cultural communication ability.
  • Professional written and verbal communication in English.
  • Proficiency in an additional language relevant to the assigned geography is strongly valued.
  • Ability to distinguish verified facts, assumptions, risks, and opportunities.
  • Ability to analyze market information and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Experience using CRM, research, spreadsheet, project-management, or collaborative digital tools.
  • Ability to operate effectively within a remote and distributed international team.
  • Understanding of local cultural and business practices.
  • Strong confidentiality, documentation, and follow-through discipline.
  • Comfort working in an early-stage, evolving, globally distributed environment.

A bachelor’s degree in Business, International Business, International Relations, Economics, Marketing, Development Studies, Agriculture, Education, or a related field is welcome; however, substantial market knowledge, professional experience, and demonstrated local relationships may substitute for formal educational requirements.

Compensation & Growth

This is not currently a salaried employee position.

The initial engagement uses a project/milestone-based contractor structure, with compensation terms documented in writing before work begins.

Depending upon the assigned market, approved compensation may include:

  • Fixed fees for accepted market-development research or defined deliverables when budgeted
  • Fixed fees for approved and qualified introductions when specifically established in the contractor agreement
  • Performance-based milestone compensation
  • Eligible commercial-revenue participation where a commercial relationship is directly sourced, properly attributed, documented, and results in collected qualifying revenue

Commercial revenue participation does not apply automatically and will be governed by written attribution, eligibility, duration, payment-trigger, cap, and related provisions.

No percentage-based compensation applies to:

  • Investment capital
  • Charitable donations
  • Foundation grants
  • Other non-commercial funding

As usable operating capital becomes available through Verde Nexus’s funding and pilot strategy, strong performers may progress through a funding-triggered compensation pathway:

Project/Milestone Compensation → Recurring Contractor Retainer → Expanded Regional Responsibility → Consideration for Funded International or Regional Leadership

Future salaried conversion is not guaranteed and will depend upon available operating capital, organizational requirements, demonstrated results, geography, and performance.

Potential Growth Path

Exceptional Country Scouts may eventually be considered for roles such as:

Country Market Development Lead
Regional Market Development Manager
International Partnerships Manager
Regional Director
Global Market Development Leadership

This gives the contractor a legitimate trajectory without promising a salaried position before Verde Nexus has the operating capital to responsibly support it.
