About Capital One

Capital One is a Fortune 500 company and one of the nation’s top 10 banks, offering a broad spectrum of financial products and services to consumers, small businesses, and commercial clients. Founded in 1988, Capital One has grown into a major financial institution with a strong balance sheet, resilient businesses, and a massive customer franchise supported by strong analytical capabilities and talented employees. The company is headquartered in McLean, Virginia, and operates across the United States, Canada, India, Mexico, Philippines, and the United Kingdom. Capital One’s mission is to create one of the nation’s great banks through innovation, customer-centric approaches, and inclusive financial solutions. The organization nurtures a work environment where people with diverse thoughts, ideas, and backgrounds come together to make Capital One a great company and a great place to work, guided by shared values of integrity, teamwork, and customer focus. The Global Enterprise Affairs division at Capital One works with numerous external and internal stakeholders to envision and create a world of greater socioeconomic opportunity through advocating for an inclusive society, building thriving communities, and creating financial tools that enrich lives. This division encompasses several key teams including Corporate Communications, Community Impact and Investment (CI&I), Community Finance, CRA Strategy and Program Management, the Global Policy Affairs Group, Regulatory Relations, and RISE. Through these integrated teams, Capital One maintains unparalleled access to a diverse group of motivated changemakers similarly focused on advancing socioeconomic mobility and community development. Capital One’s Community Impact and Investment team drives impactful community outcomes and positions the organization as the most strategically bold, innovative, and mission-driven financial institution in the market. The team accomplishes this through fueling strategic community investments such as grants, skills development, and loans; delivering insights, advice, and resources that inform Capital One’s products and services; and activating the capabilities of impact-forward associates who are committed to social change.

About this Role

This role plays a critical part in translating community insights into market strategies and philanthropic investments that align with Capital One’s business priorities and community impact goals. The Community Impact and Investment team is undertaking a multiyear transformation to increasingly align business strategy and social impact, launch new and more holistic approaches to investing in communities, leverage Capital One’s volunteer time and talent in increasingly strategic ways, and use data, analytics, research, and inclusive design to inform more targeted and actionable consulting to business partners on topics related to a broad view of financial inclusion. The Dallas-based Senior Associate will support the South-central regional team by deeply understanding challenges and opportunities within the Texas geography and bringing that market intelligence to bear to ensure strategic investments in high-impact programs with demonstrable outcomes. Working with community partners, this role will advance socioeconomic mobility in the community while maximizing impact for Capital One’s reputation and business agenda. The position requires proficiency in two key areas: gathering market intelligence and transforming that intelligence into tangible impact. In gathering market intelligence, the Senior Associate will conduct research and market scans to identify, analyze, and vet possible partners across a variety of community organizations including social and nonprofit entities. This involves engaging with partners and nurturing relationships to understand how Capital One supports community needs and moves the needle on socioeconomic mobility. Collaboration with colleagues across CI&I to monitor and evaluate risks is essential to this function. Transforming market intelligence into tangible impact involves delivering compelling content through presentations and reports that bring market insights to CI&I, Global Enterprise Affairs, and other business lines to inform decision-making. The Associate will partner closely with market team colleagues, analytics program team peers, and other business lines to draft proposals for new market investments. Additionally, this role requires managing and evaluating relationships with the existing portfolio of Texas region community partners and their associated grants, ensuring alignment to the investment strategy and reviewing grant applications. The Senior Associate will drive reporting for the Texas region to monitor Capital One’s community presence, sentiment, and the extent to which the organization is mobilizing resources (time, talent, dollars) to areas of greatest community need. Using data to problem solve is integral to this position, requiring the Associate to understand challenges and proactively recommend solutions while seeking out existing solutions before recommending or creating new ones. Telling the strategy story through adaptive communication is essential for conveying Capital One’s South-Central region investment strategy to different audiences. The role also involves supporting strategic initiatives on behalf of Market Engagement as business needs evolve. This position includes up to 30% travel as needed and involves attending events before and after normal business hours and overnight trips or conferences.
