Job Description

The Business Development Specialist is responsible for proactive outbound prospecting and lead management. This position will have a direct impact on our success by providing qualified prospects into the sales pipeline converting them to customers. 

This role will act as sales development leader - handle all first contact with new clients and build relationships through marketing activity - events, campaigns, direct mail, email, etc. The goal of a Business Development Representative is to take a lead from a marketing campaign, qualify the lead through opportunity discovery, set an on-site appointment with an Account Executive, and follow through until a quote is delivered and a deal is closed. 

Technical Sales aptitude is required, and should include experience of mechanical mechanisms and products used in machinery and vehicles of various kinds. 

Responsibilities:

Generate appointments and quotes by means of proactive outbound prospecting and lead activity management in an effort to qualify and market our product and services to potential customers.

Attend Industry trade shows to present product & services.

Work to discover opportunities from leads, and set appointments from those leads.

Prioritize short term and long term opportunities and divide work load equally to progress both. 

Use strong selling and influencing skills to set up qualified appointments.

Collaborate with internal resources to define and prepare a solution to the customer. 

Log, track and maintain customer contact records.

Work closely with Customer Account Executives and attend customer meetings as required.

Manage progress, and Prioritize on best success probabilities. 

Close sales cycle by obtaining single or multi-year supply contracts. 

Qualifications

Must be able to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of an organization.

Strong verbal and written customer communication skills.

Deep knowledge of our Product and Services, and how the application of the product/service benefits the customer's business.

Ability to deliver formal and informal presentations to staff and clients.

Ability to prioritize work assignments and shift efforts based on the needs of the department or business goals.

Strong PC skills required, including use of standard MS Office applications; knowledge of CRM System a plus.

Ability to manage time effectively, to work independently and to be self-motivated.

Demonstrate a high standard of work ethics. 

Know how to master resilience and to overcome rejections related to new business development.  

Have the acumen to know how to speak with customer's management, purchasing, engineering and marketing. 

An engineering background or technical background in metal production is a plus, but not a requirement. 

Must be able to travel in Canada and the US.
