Job description

Data Center Market – Project Manager

The position will be part of EVAPCO’s newly created Data Center Business unit, which is experiencing tremendous growth. The Data Center market is rapidly evolving and growing to support the exponential demand for AI. This market growth has resulted in significant heat rejection requirements, which is supported by EVAPCO’s full spectrum of heat rejection technologies, which include fully evaporative products such as open cooling towers and closed-circuit coolers, hybrid closed circuit coolers to balance energy and water efficiency, and dry and adiabatic coolers to maximize on water savings. All of these products have applicability to Data Center applications depending on the project and site constraints. It is the responsibility of the Data Center Business Unit to manage all aspects of data center projects including equipment selection, discussions with consultants and end users, sales negotiations, order entry and project execution.
EVAPCO’s share in the Data Center market continues to grow, and as more projects are secured, a detail oriented, organized and self-motivated Project Manager is required to execute projects per their defined objectives, while effectively communicating with all associated stakeholders and managing schedules to the customer’s expectations. The Project Manager will manage multiple Data Center projects/contracts simultaneously. Responsibilities include involvement with the internal and external sales teams to understand project scope and equipment selection, terms of supply and project timeline, after which they will oversee the entire project from order booking to shipment, start-up and commissioning. The Project Manager will coordinate with all teams internally and directly with the customer, site teams, contractors, consulting engineers, and all parties associated with project execution.

Principle Duties:
  • Project Scope Definition: Develop and maintain clearly defined project scope, objectives, and deliverables in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies to address potential project risks.
  • Project Scheduling: Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, including timelines and milestones, to ensure timely completion, in collaboration with stakeholders.
  • Team Coordination: Lead and coordinate projects with cross-functional project teams, including sales, engineering, procurement, manufacturing, quality, shipping and field service.
  • Vendor Management: Collaborate with procurement to encourage development and maintenance of relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring they meet project requirements and timelines.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Maintain regular communication with stakeholders, including clients, upper management, and project team members, to provide updates and address concerns.
  • Progress Reporting: Generate and present project progress reports, highlighting key metrics, milestones achieved, and any issues or delays.
  • Quality Assurance: Work with corporate quality to ensure that all project deliverables meet the company's quality standards and client specifications.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Collaborate with engineering, quality and manufacturing to ensure that all project activities comply with relevant industry standards, codes, and regulations.
  • Budget Management: Develop and manage project budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
  • Issue Resolution: Identify and resolve project issues and conflicts promptly with the associated stakeholders to keep the project on track.
  • Decision Making: Make informed decisions with buy-in from upper management as needed to guide the project towards successful completion.
  • Project Closeout: Ensure that all project deliverables are completed to the satisfaction of the client and the company.
  • Documentation: Compile and maintain comprehensive project documentation, including as-built drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, project schedules etc.
  • Post-Project Evaluation: Conduct post-project evaluations to identify lessons learned and areas for improvement in future projects.
  • Performance Testing/Commissioning: Participate and provide oversight on performance testing and commissioning of Evapco’s products per project requirements to ensure they meet design specifications and client expectations.
Requirements:
  • College degree in Business, Business Management, Construction, Construction Management or Engineering, along with minimum 5 years of related work experience preferred. Experience in Industrial Refrigeration, Commercial amp; Industrial HVAC, construction, or related field desired.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of project management and the duties outlined above.
  • Possess good computer skills and working knowledge of MS software tools.
  • Travel requirements approximately 35%.
