Responsibilities

As a Market Data Strategist within our Data Strategy group, you will be part of the team that is responsible for identifying, sourcing, and increasing the overall awareness and effectiveness of external datasets used in Tower Research Capital's trading environment. This role will focus on exchange data and core market data, and in it, you will be responsible for licensing, reporting, controls, and account management.

  • Work with global exchanges, index providers, and market data vendors to review and negotiate contracts including commercials and usage rights
  • Monitor the inbound flow of exchange and vendor notifications to assess their impact to Tower and triage accordingly
  • Engage with internal stakeholders including members of Trading and Engineering to define and support new and existing use cases
  • Design and implement robust data strategies and governance policies that align with business objectives, including identifying key market trends, analyzing competitor data, and guiding decision-making
  • Manage exchange usage and reporting, audits, and compliance of market data

Qualifications

  • A detailed knowledge of the language and structure of market data policies with a focus on unit of count and derived data
  • A solid understanding of market data pricing models and metrics with the ability to provide alternative sourcing and contracting options
  • Familiarity with global vendor platforms, products, entitlement systems such as VBD, BPIPE, EMRS, and DACS, and inventory management systems such as FITS and MDM
  • Experience working with and seeing market data audits through from inception to completion
  • A proven self-starter who can work independently and within a team while effectively managing multiple priorities
  • Strong strategic thinker and problem solver with attention to detail
  • Reliable and predictable partner who can be counted on by team members, senior staff, and external counterparties
  • Relevant experience at a top buy-side (hedge fund, prop trading firm) institution

Anticipated New York annual base salary range: $120,000-$170,000, plus eligible for discretionary bonus
