Part-Time Maritime Security Officer (Gangway Security / Port Security)
Job Summary
We are seeking a Part-Time Maritime Security Officer to provide gangway security, access control, and crew safeguarding services at vessels, ports, and terminals. This role is critical to ensuring the safety, accountability, and compliance of maritime crew members and personnel.
The ideal candidate has experience in security or port operations, and can maintain a high level of vigilance, professionalism, and confidentiality in a fast-paced maritime environment.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide gangway security at vessels in port, including monitoring access and verifying credentials
  • Perform access control and entry/exit procedures to ensure secure vessel operations
  • Serve as a security escort and safeguarding presence for maritime crew members
  • Monitor personnel to ensure compliance with port, company, and federal security regulations
  • Conduct routine patrols and inspections of assigned areas
  • Maintain detailed daily activity logs, incident reports, and security documentation
  • Communicate effectively with port authorities, vessel masters, agents, and internal teams
  • Respond promptly and professionally to security incidents or safety concerns
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and professional conduct at all times
Additional Duties
  • Provide crew transportation support only when required and authorized
  • Work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Follow all HSEQ policies and safety procedures
  • Perform additional duties as assigned based on operational needs
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Previous experience in security, maritime, transportation, or law enforcement preferred
  • Combination of relevant training, certifications, and experience is a plus
Requirements & Certifications
  • Must be 21 years of age or older
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Active state security guard license
  • TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential) card
  • Reliable transportation and valid auto insurance
  • First Aid/CPR certification (preferred but not required)

  • Strong understanding of security operations, access control, and maritime safety protocols
  • Proficiency with mobile cellphone applications, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general computer systems
