About the Role

TheData Engineer helpsmaintainand extend the integration platform that connects our core business systems, including HELM Connect, Dayforce, Procurify, QuickBooks Online, and Dynamics CRM. The platform is built on mainstream Microsoft data technologies and supports operations, payroll, procurement, finance, and reporting across the organization.

This rolereports totheSenior Data Engineeron day-to-day development as well as longer-term initiatives - including the continued evolution of the company's unified project data layer and the expansion of Power BI as the primary self-service analytics platform.

This is a hands-on technical position suited to someone who enjoys solvingrealoperational and financial business problems with clean, well-structured data engineering.


Key Responsibilities

  • Develop andmaintainintegration pipelines inAzure Data Factorythat move and transform data between SaaS platforms and the company's data layer.
  • Write, optimize, andmaintainT-SQLcode - stored procedures, views, functions, and triggers - supporting both integration logic and downstream reporting.
  • Design andmaintainnormalized relational data modelsin Azure SQL Database and SQL Server.
  • Build andmaintainintegrations with vendor REST APIs, including authentication, pagination, retry logic, and structured error handling.
  • Support and extend SQL Server components used for real-time and complex-payload integration scenarios, including C# / CLR stored procedure modules.
  • Partner with business analysts to expose curated data throughPower BI,leveragingthe existing SQL layer (views, functions, semantic models) in a sustainable client/server model.
  • Monitor pipelines and integrations for reliability, performance, and data quality; investigate and resolve issues as they arise.
  • Document data flows, data models, and integration interfaces.
  • Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, and small-team planning.


Required Qualifications

  • 3+ years of professional experience in a data engineering or database development role.
  • AdvancedT-SQLskills: complex queries, stored procedures, performance tuning, indexing strategies.
  • Solid experience withAzure SQL Databaseand / or MicrosoftSQL Server.
  • Hands-on experience withAzure Data Factory, or an equivalent ETL / orchestration platform (SSIS, Informatica, Talend,Fivetran, etc.).
  • Working knowledge of relational data modeling, including normalized OLTP design.
  • Experience integrating withREST APIsandODataservices, including OAuth 2.0 / API key authentication, pagination, and error handling.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into data structures.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.


Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience withC# / .NET, particularly in the context of SQLServerCLR assemblies.
  • Experience developingPower BIdatasets and reports against SQL Server / Azure SQL sources, includingDirectQueryand composite models.
  • Familiarity withMicrosoft Entra ID(Azure Active Directory) for authentication and authorization.
  • Exposure to industries with significant operational complexity - maritime, construction, energy, orlogistics.
  • Experience integrating with HR / payroll, ERP, or operations platforms such as Dayforce, QuickBooks Online, Procurify, HELM Connect, or Dynamics CRM.


What You Will Work On

  • Extending the company's project data model so operational, financial, and labor data can be reliably attributed to specific projects, vessels, and phases.
  • Building new integrations asadditionalvendor systems are introduced.
  • Supporting the company's transition to Power BI as the primary analytics platform.
  • Improving monitoring, alerting, and documentation across the integration layer.
