Job description

We are seeking a highly skilled Marine Diesel Mechanic to join our dynamic team! In this energetic role, you will be responsible for maintaining, repairing, and troubleshooting diesel engines and marine propulsion systems to ensure optimal performance and safety. Your expertise will keep our fleet operating smoothly, supporting our commitment to excellence in marine operations. Duties

  • Diagnose and repair diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and associated mechanical components on marine vessels.
  • Interpret schematics, technical manuals, and wiring diagrams to accurately troubleshoot issues.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, filter replacements, and system inspections to prevent breakdowns.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and precision measuring instruments like calipers and ohmmeters to execute repairs with accuracy.
  • Conduct fabrication and assembly of parts using sheet metal, welding techniques, and rigging skills to customize or repair equipment.
  • Assist with electrical troubleshooting including soldering, wiring repairs, and electrical system diagnostics.
  • Support vessel maintenance activities such as heavy lifting, rigging, and component installation to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service by communicating repair status clearly and offering technical advice when needed.

Skills

  • Proven service technician experience with diesel engines or marine systems.
  • Strong understanding of schematics, wiring diagrams, and electrical systems in a marine environment.
  • Mechanical knowledge encompassing engine repair
  • Skilled in the use of hand tools, power tools, calipers, soldering irons, ohmmeters, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Experience with heavy equipment repair is highly desirable.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting safely while adhering to safety protocols.
  • Excellent customer service skills combined with the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Knowledge of maintenance procedures for marine diesel engines and related mechanical systems.
