Job description

Control Systems Engineer- Senior

This position is located On-site in our Denver Colorado location.

The Control Systems Engineer – Senior is responsible for the design, development, integration, and validation of advanced electronic control systems for maritime applications. This role leads complex engineering efforts, supports cross-functional collaboration, and ensures delivery of high-quality, compliant, and innovative automation and power systems. The position requires strong technical expertise, leadership capability, and the ability to work autonomously on complex assignments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and test electronic control systems for remote and autonomous maritime operations.
  • Create and implement technical designs, including control schematics, process diagrams, and automation logic.
  • Configure and program PLC/HMI systems and develop control software using CAN bus protocols.
  • Analyze system performance through modeling and testing; troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Design marine electrical power generation and distribution systems and integrate C5i technologies into vessel platforms.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to support design development and execution.
  • Ensure compliance with contract requirements, engineering standards, and ABS regulations.
  • Manage engineering changes (ECR/ECN), review and approve design documentation, andmaintainconfiguration control via PLM systems.
  • Partner with quality and production teams to resolve installation issues and support production readiness.
  • Lead and mentor a small team; review work for technical accuracy andstandards ofcompliance.
  • Drive continuous improvement throughthe developmentof best practices, documentation, and process enhancements.
  • Operate independently while managing complex engineering tasks and priorities.

Qualifications / Skills / Experience:

  • BS degree preferred in Electrical Engineering or similar.
  • 10+ years of control system design to include feedback control systems using CAN bus protocol.
  • Desire marine electrical knowledge to include power generation, power distribution, navigation, communication, video, equipment installations, junction box installation, cable routing, cable ways and penetrations, and lighting systems.
  • Experience with MS Office, BC Dynamics, AutoCAD, Zuken, Python, PDM, PLM, MRP, Sharepoint, and Access.
  • The ability to work unsupervised efficiently and effectively.
  • Have excellent communication, teamwork, leadership, conflict management, and critical thinking skills.
  • 5 years program management experience.
  • Ability to be lead technical advisor to achieve scope, cost, and schedule targets.
  • Ability to pay attention to detail and to work on complex configurations.
  • Understanding of compliance to AS9100 and Mil-STD-973.
