As an assistant marine biologist, your job is to help research and study aspects of underwater biology. In this role, you may select a specimen for your laboratory, ensure all research upholds the expected standards of science, and assist the head biologist with various tasks. This job comes with many names, such as associate research scientist and field technician aide. As such, you may have to check postings carefully to see whether or not they represent this role. Many assistant marine biologists also work at colleges or universities, so this job can include teaching elements on top of its research aspects.
