Job Summary
LD power automation is seeking an experienced Business Development Manager with experience in the shipping, maritime, or port services sector to drive growth, expand market presence, and secure new commercial opportunities. This role blends strategic business development, market expansion, and high-impact relationship building with the ability to translate operational issues into revenue-generating solutions.
The Business Development Manager will collaborate closely with Account Management, Finance, Operations, Technical Experts, and Senior Leadership to identify new market segments, develop partnerships, shape solution offerings, and maintain healthy profit levels across all new business initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Growth & Market Expansion
  • Develop and execute strategies to expand LDpa's reach through new business opportunities, partnerships, and market entry plays.
  • Identify and target new market segments and projects, including port AMP rollouts, vessel retrofits, industrial electrification initiatives, and emerging maritime technologies.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, competitive shifts, and areas for growth across shipping, port operations, and adjacent industries.

Opportunity Identification & Solution Development
  • Identify operational gaps, customer pain points, and system failures and convert them into commercial opportunities such as retrofits, rentals, service agreements, and integrated solution packages.
  • Lead solution development by collaborating with technical experts to validate requirements, shape the right solution, and present integrated offerings that may include hardware, on-site services, maintenance agreements, and performance consulting.

Partnership & Relationship Development
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with shipowners, shipyards, port authorities, OEMs, industrial clients, and community stakeholders.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and collaborations that expand LDpa's market footprint and accelerate deployment capabilities.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders to confirm feasibility, organize implementation, and align resources for timely, low-impact delivery.
  • Work with Finance to develop pricing models and contract structures that maintain healthy profit levels while supporting competitive positioning.

Contracting, Negotiation & Execution
  • Lead commercial negotiations, support contract creation and review, and ensure agreements are financially sound and aligned with business objectives.
  • Oversee the execution of agreements in collaboration with operations, account management, and leadership.

Business Development Operations
  • Track and report on business development activities, pipeline progress, client feedback, and market trends to inform strategic decisions.
  • Maintain CRM accuracy, forecast new business opportunities, and provide regular updates to senior leadership.

Leadership, Communication & Influence
  • Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, including technical teams, executives, partners, and customers.
  • Manage ambiguity, resolve conflicts, and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Represent LDpa at industry events, conferences, and customer workshops to strengthen brand authority and generate inbound opportunities.

Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of business development, sales, or commercial strategy experience in shipping, maritime electrical services, port operations, or marine systems.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Economics, Finance, International Business, or Engineering (preferred).
  • Strong understanding of shore power (AMP), commissioning, switchboards, and marine electrical systems (preferred).
  • Proven ability to identify opportunities, develop solutions, and secure new business.
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with finance, operations, and technical teams to deliver complex projects.
  • Strong negotiation, contract review, and contract creation skills.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to travel to ports, shipyards, customer sites, and industry events.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with commissioning, equipment rental, retrofit services, or industrial electrification.
  • Background in energy efficiency, marine automation, or technical consulting.
  • CRM proficiency and experience with structured business development methodologies.
