Job description

EXECUTIVE CHEF
Established High-Volume Restaurant | Marin County, CA

A well-established, community-focused restaurant in Marin County is seeking an experienced, hands-on Executive Chef to lead its kitchen operations and culinary team.

This is an opportunity for a strong kitchen leader who can balance food quality, consistency, speed, cost control, and team development in a busy neighborhood restaurant. We are looking for someone who takes ownership, leads from the line when needed, and understands that a successful kitchen requires both culinary talent and operational discipline.

Responsibilities include:

  • Leading, training, scheduling, and developing the kitchen team
  • Maintaining consistent food quality, presentation, and ticket times
  • Managing food and kitchen labor costs
  • Overseeing ordering, inventory, receiving, and vendor relationships
  • Maintaining proper prep levels, recipes, portions, and kitchen systems
  • Supporting thoughtful menu development without unnecessary complexity
  • Ensuring excellent sanitation, food-safety, and workplace standards
  • Working closely with ownership and front-of-house leadership
  • Creating a professional, accountable, and positive kitchen culture

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Executive Chef, Chef de Cuisine, or senior kitchen leadership experience
  • Experience managing a high-volume, full-service restaurant
  • Strong knowledge of food cost, labor management, purchasing, and inventory
  • Proven ability to train and retain a dependable kitchen team
  • Calm, organized leadership during high-volume service
  • Availability for nights, weekends, and major holidays as required
  • California Food Protection Manager certification or ability to obtain one

Compensation:

  • $85,000 starting annual base salary
  • Performance-based bonus opportunity
  • Formal performance and compensation review after six months
  • Additional compensation growth based on results and expanded responsibility
