ย Silver Maples was founded in 1997 with a goal of addressing the needs of active seniors by developing a community which fosters its residents' independence, security, wellness, dignity, privacy, comfort and well-being. There are 17 Independent Living Villas, 77 Independent Living Apartments and 58 Assisted Living Apartments nestled in serene woods on over 17 acres just minutes away from Chelsea's downtown area, fifteen minutes from Ann Arbor and a short drive from Chelsea. Throughout its 20 +year history, the hallmark of Silver Maples has been its sense of community and family, fostered by positive, compassionate leadership, embraced by staff and residents alikeย 



This part-time position's hours are 9am-3pm Saturdays and Sundays. Assistance may be requested occasionally on other days/evenings to fill in for activities/transportation staff on vacation or assist with larger events/bus trips as needed.


Responsible for leading 30 minutes of seated exercise (following training) and an additional short activity on Saturdays. Sets up movies and small concerts. On Sundays, transports small groups of residents to and from neighboring churches.

  • Transports residents to activities, events, and appointments as needed. Coordinates schedule with both Life Enrichment Director & Assistant Director.
  • Operates vehicles equipped with wheelchair ramps and lifts.
  • Physically assists residents on and off bus/vehicle safely and secures restraints (following training).
  • Maintains cleanliness of vehicles.
  • Performs duties with limited supervision on weekends (following training).
  • Helps plan programs for residents, in coordination with Life Enrichment team.
  • Encourages residents to attend activities and builds enthusiasm for programs. Tracks attendance for activities.
  • Completes other duties assigned by Life Enrichment Director and Assistant Director.

Requirements

  • Possesses valid Chauffeur's License (holding a valid Michigan operator's driver's license and passing a written test); Commercial Driver's License preferred.
  • Possesses documented clean driving record.
  • Able to operate 14-passenger bus equipped with wheelchair ramps and lifts (following training).
  • Demonstrates an interest in working with a senior population.
  • Demonstrates warm, outgoing, and compassionate personality.
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal communication skills in the English language, necessary to communicate and work effectively with various staff, residents, family members, and the public.
  • Willing to work flexible hours, such as special evenings or days, in addition to scheduled weekend hours.
  • Able to use a computer and smart phone
  • Able to multi-task.
  • Possesses high school diploma.
