GENERAL SUMMARY (Describe the overall duties and responsibilities of the job):


  1. Responsible for design, development, improvement, troubleshooting, implementation, and evaluation of processes and equipment

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Duties required for successful job performance):


  1. Help develop, implement, and maintain manufacturing processes and systems
  2. Improve new and existing manufacturing equipment and processes
  3. Support manufacturing with daily operational problems through hands-on troubleshooting using root cause analysis and corrective / preventive measures
  4. Coordinate implementation of product design changes
  5. Participate in FMEA development and improvements
  6. Oversee and coordinate the design and build of production equipment, jigs, and fixtures for manufacturing processes while improving operator safety, reducing labor, improving quality, and reducing waste of materials and utilities
  7. Analyze equipment operations, processes, and associate procedures to determine and improve production efficiency, ergonomics, safety, workflow, layout, and maintenance-related issues. Support continuous improvement initiatives while driving Lean and 5S.
  8. Participate in development and review of all processes and work instructions to ensure accuracy, standardization, and conformance to actual procedures. Revise as needed.
  9. Ensure equipment accuracy, reliability, and efficiency with preventative maintenance procedures.


REQUIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE (These are the traditional minimum, or required, bona-fide occupational qualifications and other requirements of most people in this job).


  1. Degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience
  2. Minimum 5 years’ experience in manufacturing; automotive manufacturing experience preferred.
  3. Experience in lean production and manufacturing technology



REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those needed to perform the essential functions of the job).


  1. Working knowledge of modern manufacturing processes and principles, including latest technologies
  2. Good analytical/problem solving skills
  3. Project management skills
  4. Above average computer skills, including Windows applications, CAD, and ERP systems

  1. This position reports directly to the Engineering / Maintenance Manager.

WORKING CONDITIONS (Describe the environment within which the work is performed).


  1. Work environment varies 50% to 80% on the plant floor vs office area.
  2. Minimal – moderate noise in open-office area / moderate – loud noise in plant
  3. Moderate exposure to hazardous working conditions, including moving machinery and tow motors
  4. Occasional travel to tool shops and other Sanoh facilities


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


  1. 20% - 50% of time sitting at computer desk vs standing / walking in the plant.
  2. Ability to walk and move about, bend/twist, stoop, kneel, crouch
  3. Ability to lift/carry objects up to 30 pounds from various positions, occasionally
  4. Shift and “on-call” work may be required.
