Job description


As part of our Manufacturing team, you'll help build the world-class, state-of-the-art smart vehicles the world expects from us. Within our plants around the world, we're constantly developing new technologies and processes to further increase our efficiency. That means we're continually seeking diligent, determined performers who think outside the box to help us find better and more efficient ways to manufacture our vehicles.
Responsibilities
In this key role, you will provide manufacturing engineering leadership throughout a new model development program - from initial concept through final assembly. This will involve the application of lean manufacturing principles to ensure the highest quality, most efficient processes and products possible. You will:
  • Upfront Program Engineering
    • Drive lessons learned into new product; Ensure GMRs and best practices are followed; Ensure product design is robust for manufacturing; Ensure LD commonality is followed / Drive LD discipline; Drive SRI feasibility; Support structures process; Support clay feasibility; Support virtual builds; Ensure P-release quality of event; Ensure checking fixture/PCF/CMM fixture strategy support program deliverables; Ensure plant CMM/layout room will support program deliverables; Ensure measurement plan is robust
  • DCV & PCF Builds:
    • Develop pre-launch control plan; Ensure production intent locators for DCV; Lead resolution of manufacturing AIMS issues; Utilize DCV to prove out measurement programs, handheld data and WBDM templates; Ensure closure systems studies are completed; Lead PCF process ꟷ Develop build plan ꟷ Ensure parts are ordered ꟷ Ensure PCF fixture meet timing needs ꟷ Lead execution of PCF1 build; Ensure supplier gages are correct; Drive part review and die buy-offs
  • Launch
    • Lead launch control plan; Ensure all assy plant metrology is ready to support launch control plan; Ensure assy plant fixtures support control plan; Ensure metrology programs are ready; Ensure handheld data devices are ready; Ensure WBDM/Templates support launch needs; Lead PCF2/PCF3 build events at plant; Responsible for overall Bodyshop capability; Build event dimension summary; Ensure stamped parts are acceptable for build events and drive towards PSW; Drive sheet metal system issue resolution; Drive closing effort prove out; Drive OK to Buy dimensional and functional issue to resolution

Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Engineering in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or related fields.
  • Min of 1-3 Years of Experience in Manufacturing
  • Willingness to travel and support launch activities at our North American Assembly plants (USA, Canada & Mexico)
  • Travel is required including co-location at a North American Assembly plant for 9 or more months depending on scale of vehicle launch.
  • 1 or more years of Microsoft Office experience to include Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Up to 40-50% travel required

Preferred Requirements:
  • Solid background with virtual manufacturing tools
  • Experience with tooling, process, quality, and or facility equipment in a production environment.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Working knowledge of statistics (control charts, data collecting, etc.)

This position is a salary grade 7-8 and ranges from $86,600-$166,200.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
