Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance, Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards, Cleanroom: no hair products, jewelry, makeup, nail polish, perfume, exposed piercings, facial hair etc... allowed, Laboratory Setting, Office, Some degree of PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) required (safety glasses, gowning, gloves, lab coat, ear plugs etc.)

A Day in the Life:
Join our collaborative team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Manufacturing Sciences Supervisor. Working at the intersection of process development and production, you'll contribute to innovation and excellence in bioprocessing technologies while ensuring compliance with quality standards. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to life-changing therapies while developing your leadership skills in an innovative organization.
  • Guide technical operations in a GMP-regulated environment
  • Serve as the technical owner for customer programs in manufacturing
  • Oversee process execution and standardize methodologies
  • Collaborate across functions to optimize processes, implement improvements, and ensure efficient operations
  • Review critical documentation
  • Support team of scientists and engineers and manage timelines
  • Provide technical expertise for manufacturing operations
  • Maintain productive partnerships with stakeholders to deliver exceptional results for our customers

Minimum Requirements:
Education
  • Minimum Required Education: Bachelor degree (Preferred Fields of Study: Engineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Biotechnology, Life Sciences, or related discipline)
  • Advanced degree preferred

Experience
  • 5 years of experience in GMP-regulated environment required
  • Prior people leadership or management experience required.
  • Experience with process validation, technology transfer, and scale-up activities
  • Experience with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or PPI)
  • Experience in developing and supporting technical staff

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
  • Advanced knowledge of bioprocessing techniques including cell culture, harvest, chromatography, ultrafiltration, and depth filtration
  • Strong understanding of cGMP requirements and US/EU regulatory standards
  • Demonstrated ability to manage teams and complex projects
  • Proficiency in technical writing and documentation (batch records, validation protocols, technical reports)
  • Strong problem-solving skills for deviations and implementation of corrective actions
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for cross-functional collaboration
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant manufacturing systems
  • Ability to work in manufacturing areas wearing appropriate PPE
  • Knowledge of risk assessment and root cause analysis techniques
  • Ability to support manufacturing operations as needed
