Job description

We're looking for people who put their innovation to work to advance our success - and their own. Join an organization that ensures a more secure world through connecting and protecting our customers with inventive electrical solutions.

Join nVent as a New Product Introduction (NPI) Manufacturing Engineer and play a key role in bringing innovative products to life. You'll lead NPI processes from program kickoff through Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), Safe Launch Containment, and Engineering Change Notices (ECNs). Using your engineering expertise, you'll apply lessons learned and anticipate new challenges to ensure products are safe, scalable, and built for success. Collaborate with multi-functional teams-Design, Operations, Program Management, Supply Chain-to drive launch excellence and deliver exceptional customer satisfaction.

*** This role will work onsite, 5 days a week in Anoka and/or Blaine MN. ***

WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE IN THIS ROLE:

  • Lead manufacturing projects from start to finish, including developing detailed, establishing project timelines, coordinating resources across multiple teams, and monitor key deliverables to ensure new products are introduced efficiently, safely, and meeting nVent's engineering, quality, and customer requirements.

  • Participate in and support project kick-off meetings to confirm internal manufacturing requirements, production layout data, customer-specific specifications, tooling needs, and launch expectations; apply engineering analysis to review statistical process control (SPC) data, evaluate process capability, identify potential failure points, and reduce risk priority numbers (RPN) before full-scale production.

  • Evaluate and align product design requirements with manufacturing processes, equipment capabilities, material flow, labor requirements, and customer specifications to ensure that products can be consistently produced at scale while satisfying dimensional, functional, safety, and quality standards.

  • Prepare, maintain, and review engineering and manufacturing documentation for new product programs, including launch records, deviation documentation, engineering change notices, process validation results, and customer or internal approval materials, ensuring compliance with applicable internal procedures and external quality requirements.

  • Develop and support key Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) outputs, including capability studies, Failure Mode and Effects Analyses (FMEA), inspection instructions, control plan inputs, measurement methods, and process verification activities; work closely with quality teams to ensure that production processes are capable, repeatable, and properly controlled prior to customer release.

  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering, operations, and production personnel to design, evaluate, and implement fixtures, job aids, tooling improvements, and work instructions that support efficient assembly, reduce variation, improve ergonomics, and enable smooth transition from prototype or pilot production to full manufacturing launch.

  • Contribute engineering judgment and technical problem-solving to resolve sophisticated product and process challenges, including manufacturability concerns, production inefficiencies, quality issues, material or equipment constraints, and cross-functional launch risks, while applying principles of mechanical engineering, industrial technology, and manufacturing engineering to support continuous improvement.

YOU HAVE:

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a closely related engineering discipline required.

  • Strong understanding of NPI principles, including handling ECNs and integrating changes into quality planning.

  • Experience working with quality on Control Plans, including conducting FMEAs and process flow diagrams.

  • Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings; skilled in CAD tools such as SolidWorks or AutoCAD.

  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 and other regulatory requirements.
