Job Description:
L3Harris is seeking a talented Specialist Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing of Space Hardware and processes. The hardware produced at this location is complex, containing circuit card assemblies (CCAs), microelectronics assemblies, cable harnesses, and higher-level system assemblies. The person filling this position will focus on manufacturing engineer support and development for manufacturing various space complex hardware and RF applications. In-depth familiarity with all aspects of circuit card assembly design and fabrication will be highly beneficial in this position.
Essential Functions:
  • Direct support personnel in the day-to-day execution of manufacturing tasks on the production floor.
  • Provide technical expertise and support related to manufacturing.
  • Develop and support new methods and processes to improve existing and new operations.
  • Monitor defect trends, support and implement process improvements through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support and lead teams to resolve the manufacturing production yield, quality, and reliability issues.
  • Monitor production processes for efficiency, throughput, and safety improvements.
  • Provide advanced technical support to solve problems through process improvements related to manufacturing products.
  • Interface with design and manufacturing engineers to ensure hardware producibility, developing build strategies.
  • Design and develop manufacturing and engineering tools, strategies, and systems.
  • Estimate manufacturing costs, determine time standards, and make recommendations for tooling and process requirements of new or existing product lines.
  • Read and understand Assembly Drawings.
  • Work interactively and effectively in a team environment.
  • Actively participate in Failure Review Board (FRB) investigations.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance (TS/SCI with Poly)

Qualifications:
  • Requires proficient knowledge of job area. May have practical knowledge of project management. Bachelor's Degree and minimum 4 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 8 years of prior related experience.

Preferred Additional Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree in industrial, Mechanical, and or Manufacturing engineering
  • Experience with soldering and working with delicate electronic components.

  • Familiarity with production processes such as Lean Six Sigma, continuous improvement, SPC, and FMEA.
  • Proficiency with Control or similar MRP-based systems, and Manufacturing Execution Systems.
  • Excellence in solving problems as they occur, recommending and implementing improvements related to the production process.
  • Ability to manage resources and multiple priorities while interacting with individuals at all levels within the organization and customers as required.
  • TS or higher U.S. Government Security Clearance.
