Position Overview

Environmental, Safety, and Health Manager inspect and evaluate the environment, equipment, and processes in working areas to ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) safety regulations and industry standards. The chief goal is to protect the employees, customers, contractors, and the environment. Manage, plan, implement and oversee the policies and procedures of SmartLam North America’s Safety Program. Educate employees on how to prevent health problems through the use of safety training programs. They also investigate accidents to identify their causes and find ways to prevent them in the future.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement OHSA policies and programs.
  • Advise and lead employees on various safety-related topics.
  • Prepare educational seminars and webinars on a regular basis.
  • Review existing policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to all the rules and regulations.
  • Conduct risk assessment.
  • Enforce preventative measures.
  • Lead Accident investigations
  • Identify process bottlenecks and offer timely solutions.
  • Check if all the employees are acting in adherence with rules and regulations regarding PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), inspecting PPE as required and replacing PPE as needed.
  • Responsible for new hire safety orientation, and additional training and re-training, as needed, for current employees.
  • Prepare and present reports on accidents, violations and determine causes.
  • Oversee workplace repair, installations and any other work that could harm employees' safety by working closely with the Maintenance Manager and his team.
  • Trainings employees on Forklift, overhead crane and lock-out, tag-out procedures, fire, and weather safety, making sure all required safety procedures are in place for all new employees, our equipment, building and products, are following OSHA regulations and standards.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Extensive knowledge of environmental regulations and policies.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in technology and equipment used in environmental inspections.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health, safety, or a related scientific field.
  • Five years of related experience.
  • OSHA Knowledge required.
  • Excellent knowledge of potentially hazardous materials or practices.
  • Working knowledge in producing reports.
  • Experience with writing policies and procedures for health and safety.
  • Familiarity with conducting data analysis and reporting statistics.
  • Working knowledge of safety management information system
  • Certificate in occupational health and safety preferred.
  • Emergency First Responder certificate preferred, required once employed.
