Job description

OVERVIEW 

The Senior Process Engineer provides engineering services for sugar packaging and processing. Focusing on improving current operations and facilitate the growth process efficiency by developing & executing process improvement.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for developing methods of improving the existing process through automation, process developments and new technologies.
  • Works with Control Engineers to optimize Process Controls to fine tune process control points to achieve efficiencies and improved quality.
  • Assist process superintendents and supervisors as needed to troubleshoot issues in the process.
  • Strives to constantly improve the energy efficiency of the process and the refinery.
  • Manages process projects and tasks as assigned by the process manager.
  • Works within all safety, environmental, food safety and food security procedures.
  • Performs lab testing to support improvements.
  • Manage and develop junior Process Engineers

 

WORK EXPERIENCES

  • Five years of Chemical/Process Engineering experience desired; prior knowledge in Food industry or Consumer Product Goods is preferred
  • Previous work experience developing or assisting in the development of new processes/procedures
  • Prior involvement with supporting multiple capital projects
  • Experience supervising employees or leading a project including employees in a unionized work environment is a plus

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • B.S. degree (or higher) in Engineering (Chemical preferred) or related field from an accredited college/university.

ESSENTIAL CAPABILITIES (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES)

  • Strong engineering fundamentals with proven abilities and practical experience in the following areas:
  • Process optimization
  • Data-based decision making using data from different sources
  • Lean Six Sigma for triggered events and proactive improvements
  • Unit operations, understanding and continuous improvements
  • Process measurement and control systems
  • Maintenance techniques and systems for reliable operation
  • Troubleshooting hardware and processes

  • Organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through on agreed actions
  • Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Wonderware, SAP an advantage
  • Food manufacturing, GMPs, HACCP, SQF. Safety standards and regulations
  • Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
  • Must be able to perform lab testing to support improvements.
