Job description

Position Summary:

The Operations Manager will plan, direct, and coordinate the production activities of the plant.

Essential Functions & Key Responsibilities:

  • The Operations Manager is accountable for inspiring and executing strategies which achieve optimum safety, quality, service, productivity, and profitability.
  • Develop and Advance initiatives that promote and improve the safety, health, security, and welfare of all employees.
  • Maintain and drive safe, clean, orderly (5s), and environmentally compliant production operations.
  • Follow and Enforce GMP’s in compliance with all food safety requirements.
  • Inclusive oversight of all production and production support activities of the facility ensuring all are conducted in accordance with Company policies, principles, procedures, values, and standards.
  • Effectively assess, mentor and coach direct reports to ensure optimum performance.
  • Provide technical recommendations and implementation for continuous improvement in plant production process.
  • Proactively conference and collaborate with customers, sales, and internal/external support resources to evaluate, develop, and promote strategies designed to improve service, flow, quality, and product value.
  • Execute supervisory responsibilities in accordance with all policies and applicable laws, including interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible and accountable for Operations Metrics to include Turn-over, Service, Quality, Cost, OEE, Waste.
  • Willingly undertake and perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
  • Will have supervisors and lead personnel as well as the hourly production workforce as direct reports.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or a combination of continuing education and experience.
  • Continuous Improvement or Black Belt Certification is a plus.
  • Experience leading change in a Union environment.
  • A minimum of 5-7 years of related experience and/or training in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated evidence of implementing or utilizing TQM, Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma processes and methodologies to drive improvement in cost, productivity, or profitability.
  • Experience with SQF or ISO within a manufacturing environment
  • Proven technical leadership with the ability to utilize structured problem-solving methods to deliver results.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, with the willingness and ability to learn new systems.

Physical Requirements:

  • Lifting; a minimum of 50 lbs. - Carrying; a minimum of 50 lbs.

  • Walking; 8 hours - Standing; 8 hours - Kneeling; 4 hours - Bending; 6 hours - Squatting; 6 hours - Climbing;6 hours
