Job description

Overview

The Manager of Plant Operations is responsible for overseeing facility maintenance and operational efficiency, ensuring compliance with safety regulations and hospital policies. This role involves assigning and supervising staff to maintain high workmanship standards while coordinating preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and floor service equipment. Additionally, the manager ensures the proper function of medical gas systems and all critical infrastructure, while managing administrative duties such as budgeting, planning, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities
  • Assign and supervise employees, ensuring work meets quality and safety standards

  • Monitor compliance with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory safety requirements

  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance for mechanical, HVAC, and plumbing systems

  • Ensure proper operation and maintenance of medical gas systems and critical infrastructure

  • Oversee floor service equipment maintenance and efficiency

  • Manage budgeting, planning, and administrative duties within areas of responsibility

  • Maintain operational oversight of plumbing, HVAC, and mechanical equipment

  • Implement safety protocols and address potential hazards in facility operations

  • Collaborate with hospital leadership to support organizational objectives

Qualifications
  • Completion of high school

  • Six to eight years of specialized training and experience in the mechanical field

  • Training in specific equipment, including:

    • Boilers

    • Chillers

    • Electrical systems

    • Plumbing

    • Air conditioning

    • Refrigeration

  • Valid North Carolina driver's license with a good driving history

Physical Requirements: Work involves lifting and carrying objects wrighing up to fifty pounds. Climbs, balances, stoops, kneels and crouches to make repairs or installation. Near -visual acuity for reading blueprints and specifications. May be requested to work at any hour of the day in response to emergencies.
