The MES Specialist II is responsible for the configuration, deployment, and operational support of MES workflows within a defined production area or value stream. This role translates manufacturing processes into digital workflows, supports real-time production needs, and drives incremental system improvements. Tasks and responsibilities expected for this role include those captured by lower role specific levels. This role involves working closely with manufacturing managers, various engineering disciplines, production staff, and operations teams to support expected outcomes.
Scope & Ownership
- Own MES configuration and support for a product line or value stream
- Act as primary MES support for production in assigned area
- Contribute to system standardization efforts
Key Responsibilities
MES Configuration & Deployment
- Configure MES workflows, work instructions, and process logic
- Support deployment of MES solutions across production lines
- Ensure MES accurately reflects physical manufacturing processes
Production Support & Troubleshooting
- Resolve MES-related issues impacting production in real time
- Troubleshoot system integrations, devices, and workflows
- Monitor system performance and uptime
Systems Integration
- Integrate smart tools and devices into MES
- Support connectivity using industrial protocols (OPC UA, TCP/IP, etc.)
- Collaborate with IT and engineering for system integration
Process Improvement
- Analyze MES and production data to identify inefficiencies
- Implement improvements to workflows and system usability
Training & Enablement
- Train production personnel on MES workflows and tools
- Maintain supporting documentation
Key Responsibilities (Level I)
MES Support & Maintenance
- Maintain existing MES workflows, including work instructions and data capture points
- Perform routine updates and corrections to MES configurations
- Assist in validating MES changes prior to deployment
Production Support
- Respond to MES-related issues on the production floor with guidance from senior team members
- Support troubleshooting of hardware and system connectivity issues
- Escalate complex issues appropriately
Documentation & Training Support
- Assist in creating and updating MES documentation and user guides
- Support training efforts for production personnel
Qualifications
- 2-4 years of MES or manufacturing systems experience
- Hands-on experience configuring MES platforms (PICO MES or similar)
- Strong understanding of production workflows and quality control
- Experience with industrial communication protocols
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills
Pay Range by Level:
Level I - $74k - $88k
Level II - $88k - $113k
