Requisition ID: 67091 Title:Engineering Tech I
Arthrex, Inc. is a global medical device company and a leader in new product development and medical education in orthopedics. Arthrex is actively searching for an Engineering Tech I. This individual will be responsible for assisting Product Development Engineers with design and development of various Shoulder Arthroplasty products, including new product development and maintenance of released products.
This role provides support to the engineering team through documentation management and other related tasks. Although it supports engineering functions, it is not a traditional engineering position.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Assist with various aspects of the engineering product development process as assigned.
  • Assist with prototype design assignments under general supervision of engineers.
  • Assist in the testing of design prototypes and support R&D testing activities of assigned products as directed by engineers
  • Document development requests and project checklists for assigned projects to suppliers
  • Generate and maintain mechanical models and drawings utilizing computer aided design (CAD) program, according to specifications determined by the engineer
  • Support design changes to develop and improve products as well as facilitate manufacturing operations.
  • Support QA, Manufacturing, Regulatory, Marketing and Product Management with technical information as directed by the engineer.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and specifications for prototype designs
  • Assist engineers with the creation, modification, review, and processing of Engineering Change Orders, including engineering specification drawings and all associated components that comprise the complete bill of materials.
  • Report progress and status of assignments on a timely basis with emphasis on reporting results to supervisor as appropriate.

Knowledge:
  • Limited use and/or application of basic principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Limited knowledge of industry practices and standards.

Skills:
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications required.
  • Knowledge in designing products using a 3D-CAD program such as Solidworks, Creo, or other 3D modeling software preferred.
  • Ability to understand engineering specifications and drawing conventions.
  • Knowledge of testing equipment preferred.
  • Knowledge of design, manufacturing, and inspection methods and processes is preferred.
  • Ability to write and record data and information as required by procedures.
  • Ability to communicate ideas and issues effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Knowledge in nonconformance evaluation.
  • Ability to understand Design control and associated activities.
  • Basic knowledge of sustaining engineering and associated activities (Engineering change order and associated requirements).

Experience:
  • 2 years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience in medical device or manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with medical device design requirements preferred.

Knowledge and Skill Requirements/Specialized Courses and/or Training:
  • Good communication skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to work independently and effectively with cross functional teams.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Experienced user of MS Office Suite.

Education:
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post-secondary education preferred.
