Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for a Manufacturing Engineering Technician III position located in the Corinth, MS facility. This position will ensure production Value Stream goals are met in PQVC by providing support for the Manufacturing Engineers in the execution of project implementation and daily support of the Operations team as warranted. The candidate will assist the Engineers in developing print packages for RFQ's, tooling and fixturing, CI card completion, Standard Work and other ETQ documentation creation and maintenance, plant layouts and related tasks as needed.
Job responsibilities to include but not limited to:
  • Operator should have attention to detail and be self-motivated.
  • Operator will work in a team environment.
  • Operator is expected to cross train in other areas of operations to provide flexibility within the job classification scope.
  • Troubleshooting of engine test
  • Ability to run and diagnose test cells
  • Support NPI and implementation of updated processes
  • Support installation and run-off of new equipment
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment problems or other issues related to NPI
  • Trial and runoff of new tools and associated training of group leaders and operators
  • Investigation and implementation of VS CI cards
  • Assist in troubleshooting equipment problems
  • Manage Suppliers for the fabrication of lifting devices, tooling, and fixturing
  • Create and update standard work, safe operating procedures, control plans and SFMEA documentation
  • Evaluating and updating standard work, process flow, control plan, FMEA documents
  • Interfacing with operations and other cross functional groups in addition to engineering team members
  • Expected to determine and perform root cause corrective analyses and actions.
  • Assembly tooling and fixture design
  • Assist with torque tooling implementation
  • MES work instructions / MBOM improvements
  • Create tooling drawings and plant layouts in AutoCAD
  • Purchase needed tooling and supplies through Caterpillar's Purchase Order System
  • Attend and actively participate in safety and team meetings
  • Attend and actively participate in LEAN events and workshops

Basic Qualifications:
  • 5+ years in a Caterpillar Remanufacturing facility OR an Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing related field
  • Experience reading and understanding blueprints
  • Experience reading and understanding precision gauges and/or torque devices
  • Experience with process flow diagrams, control plans, and PFMEAs
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving problems, recognizing the need for support and creating teams to accomplish tasks, if necessary.
  • High proficiency of PC skills including Microsoft office applications

Top Candidates Will Also Have:
  • Associate's/Bachelor's degree in a manufacturing or engineering related field
  • Currently enrolled in or desire to pursue additional education in a manufacturing related field
  • 2+ years of experience working with bill of materials and engine assembly or diesel mechanics
  • Strong Diesel Engine Background and Understanding of how to build diesel engines from 7L up to C175-20
  • Diesel Engine Test Experience
  • Experience with CAD software (AutoCAD, Creo, etc.)
  • Tooling/fixturing design experience
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills
  • High degree of accountability for product and processes
  • Process improvement experience

Physical Requirements:
  • Certain functions within this job category may require:
  • Physical exertion and effort to safely lift push or pull components or parts
  • Standing or sitting at workstations for extended periods of time
  • The safe execution of repetitive motions
  • Ability to repetitively lift parts weighing up to 35lbs.
  • Visual and hearing abilities as appropriate for safe execution of job duties, functions, and tasks

Job Bid Eligibility Requirements:
  • Any current agency workers applying to this position must have worked the required 300 hours in order to be considered as well as meeting all requirements for the position.

Summary Pay Range:
