About the Role:

The Manufacturing Operations Engineer / Supervisor is a hybrid role at the heart of our industrial operations. You will be responsible for both the technical optimization of assembly processes and the direct leadership of production teams. This role focuses on the method of manufacturing goods with a heavy emphasis on ergonomics, efficiency, manning, and process error-proofing. You will act as the technical expert for your assigned lines while fostering a positive social climate and driving a "first time right" culture for our automotive lighting customers.

Key Responsibilities

Process Engineering & Industrial Design

  • Lead workshops on existing lines to reduce manufacturing costs, cycle times, and scrap percentages to achieve best-in-class status.

  • Collaborate with P1 design teams to ensure Design for Manufacturability (DFM) within production constraints.

  • Create and manage work instructions, PFMEAs, and LLC/Kaizen cards.

  • Become the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for assigned assembly lines to pilot improvement opportunities and support vendors with new equipment integration.

  • Apply advanced quality measures to ensure robust product design and "first time right" parts for the customer.

People Management & Leadership

  • Lead the induction of all newcomers (including temporaries) and manage the scheduling of training actions.

  • Analyze flexibility needs within your perimeter, define training plans, and maintain a real-time flexibility grid/certification process.

  • Oversee absenteeism, holidays, safety enforcement, and environmental risk analysis.

  • Conduct annual appraisals and career development discussions for operators.

  • Ensure a positive work environment and high levels of personnel involvement.

Production & Standards Management

  • Ensure daily production meets SQCDM (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery, Motivation) and inventory targets in alignment with the MPS (Master Production Schedule).

  • Perform daily OJT with teams to ensure strict adherence to safety, quality, 5S, and work standards.

  • Deploy TPM standards, manage "red tag" abnormality detection, and lead maintenance line QRQCs.

  • Systematically check the gemba to validate working times, ensure respect of standard stops, and monitor equipment performance (cycle time and micro-stoppages).

Continuous Improvement & Valeo 5 Axes

  • Lead action plans to improve SQCDM performance in coherence with Plant and APU productivity plans (P-30).

  • Pilot PDCA, FTA, and Maintenance "5 Whys" on assigned topics (Safety, Quality, DL Efficiency).

  • Lead VPS workshops (Flow analysis, Muda hunting, Hoshin, TPM) and present status updates to the Site VPS committee.

  • Participate in budget preparation (headcounts, investments, P-30) and manage the budget for your assigned zone.

  • Promote the Valeo 5 Axes in daily activities to reach assigned V5000 targets.

What You Should Have

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing) is highly preferred, but experience in lieu of education will be considered

  • 0-3 years of experience in an automotive manufacturing environment, preferably in assembly processes

  • Experience with PFMEAs, Lean Manufacturing principles (VPS), and time-measurement methodologies

  • Proven ability to manage diverse teams and drive a culture of accountability.
