Job description

Job Title: Production Flow Coordinator (PFC) Department: Manufacturing - Assembly

Reports to: Value Stream Leader FLSA (Exempt / Non Exempt): Non Exempt


Job Summary: The Production Flow Coordinator is responsible for managing and driving the daily production output of an assigned manufacturing area. This role plans, coordinates, and prioritizes production activities to ensure schedules are met while maintaining high standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. The coordinator works closely with cross-functional teams to resolve production issues, remove obstacles, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

This position is directly accountable for achieving daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual production targets. Success in this role requires strong organizational skills, problem-solving abilities, effective communication, and a commitment to fostering a safe work environment for all employees.

Job Details:

  • This position is accountable to GPI’s Quality Management System (QMS)guidelines for all products.
  • Inspect work for quality, recognize flaws in components, and properly report problems to Value Stream Leaders, Process Engineers or Quality Assurance as necessary.
  • Instills and maintains a positive can-do team atmosphere within assigned area; holding regular team meetings, assigning team members’ tasks, and coordinating support group services needed outside the team.
  • In action and deed this position will provide a positive culture of continuous improvement and employee engagement.
  • Ensure all quality escapes are managed by the QMS and follow through on all corrective actions as assigned including training of all employees as required.
  • Plan and maintain the heijunka box as required on a daily basis, ensuring production is on time.
  • Responsible for organization and accurate count of components on hand to ensure support for next day production and inventory accuracy.
  • Assume ownership of daily 6S and create a culture of “clean as you go” in assigned area.
  • Reinforce and utilize Lean manufacturing principles in assigned area. Coach, mentor and train employees in the use of Lean manufacturing principles.
  • Responsible for the maintenance log and hi pot tester(daily, weekly, as required). Ensure maintenance procedures and torque testing requirements are followed on the line’s equipment.
  • With the assistance of the Assembly Trainer, this position will verify training certificates are completed as needed and employees are receiving the training required for the position they hold.
  • Responsible for the application of company policy in a positive and respectful manner with the guidance of production management and Human Resources and in keeping with GPI company values.
  • This position is responsible for clearly communicating the expectations and challenges of the day’s production run to all assembly employees at the beginning of the shift and throughout the day as required.
  • This position is required to report on the prior day production run statistics and address any concerns for the current production run. They are accountable to update required productivity data and the KPI boards.
  • The PFC will work directly with production management and Human Resources on all employee relations issues.
  • Responsible for the timely enforcement of the company policy concerning employee attendance and must keep accurate records of attendance including temporary employees. This position will approve all PTO requests for their direct reports.
  • This position will assist with the recruitment, hiring and selection process and is responsible to provide a warm welcome to GPI for all new employees.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This position directly supervises the assembly employees assigned within their area.

Job Qualifications:

Required

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Ability to execute Lean/6S projects in Assembly with a clear understanding of the requirements of their assigned area.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in leading assembly manufacturing teams.
  • Proven ability to work independently with self-motivation to improve production, lean and employee management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strengths in training assembly line workers. Must always be approachable and professional in communications.
  • Prior experience utilizing ERP/MRP systems in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must have Microsoft Office experience and the ability to operate a desktop computer. Specifically, data entry in Word and Excel. Must have the ability to learn software applications in a quick and efficient manner.

Preferred

  • Syteline experience highly valued.
  • Prefer advanced manufacturing or technical training. Associates degree in applicable field.
  • Prior supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.

Job Requirements:

Physical: Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. Ability to stand on concrete surface for extended periods of time (up to 10 hours). When not standing, may require working at desk on computer and sitting for extended periods.

Tools / Equipment: hand tools and power tools with the skill required to produce a quality product.

Working Conditions: Assignment based upon production needs. Work is performed in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment.
