Manufacturing Associate – Coffee Packaging
Location: Middlebury, VT
Schedule: 8:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. or 5:00 p.m. (varies by production needs)
Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour
Job Objective
The Manufacturing Associate’s primary responsibility is to package roasted coffee while ensuring the final product meets the highest quality and presentation standards.
Job Summary
Manufacturing Associates work in a fast-paced production environment where roasted coffee is packaged daily using production equipment. This role requires strict adherence to quality, accuracy, inventory control procedures, and certified organic manufacturing standards.
Associates will operate weigh-and-fill machines and other semi-automatic packaging equipment, including labelers and tapers. The position involves working around lift tables, manual pallet jacks, and material transfer carts, and handling packaging materials in multiple sizes and configurations while following established material-handling procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Operate weigh and fill machines and semi-automatic packaging equipment
- Package roasted coffee in accordance with quality and organic certification standards
- Follow all production, safety, and inventory control procedures
- Handle packaging materials and finished goods safely and accurately
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment
Expectations & Qualifications
- One year of manufacturing or similar fast-paced work experience preferred
- Lean Manufacturing experience and mechanical aptitude are a plus
- Reliable and dependable attendance is required
- Ability to read proficiently and perform basic math
- Strong attention to detail
- Strong verbal communication skills
- Ability to work respectfully and collaboratively in small teams
- Actively participates in promoting workplace safety
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
- Ability to stand for up to 8 hours per shift
- Ability to bend, reach, squat, kneel, twist, push, pull, and perform repetitive motions
Sensory-Sensitive & Appearance Requirements
This facility is sensory sensitive and follows strict personal appearance and hygiene standards:
- No strong fragrances or perfumes permitted
- Non-smoking preferred (facility does not hire smokers)
- Hair nets and smocks will be provided and must be worn
- No jewelry permitted, except a plain wedding band or medical alert band
- No piercings
- No fake nails or nail polish
- Closed-toe shoes required
- No loose-fitting clothing; pants required (no skirts or dresses)
Pay Details: $18.00 per hour
