Job description

OVERVIEW

The Manufacturing Technician - Lean Support provides data-driven support to Manufacturing and Process Engineering by conducting time studies, collecting production and downtime data, identifying waste, and maintaining standardized work documentation. This role supports improvements in safety, efficiency, first pass yield, and on-time delivery across production lines.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Process Engineer by conducting time studies, cycle time validation, and labor studies using established templates and methodology.
  • Collect and categorize downtime, rework, and productivity data to support engineering-led root cause analysis and improvement initiatives.
  • Assist the Process Engineer with line balancing and takt time validation efforts by gathering and organizing floor data.
  • Identify and document waste on the production floor, escalating findings to the engineering team for action.
  • Support 5S audits and continuous improvement initiatives as directed by the Manufacturing or Process Engineer.
  • Update SOPs, standardized work, and process documentation under the direction of the Process Engineer, who owns the technical content.
  • Support training verification and skills matrix tracking to help engineers maintain operator readiness.
  • Participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions, providing data and floor observations to support engineering conclusions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience.
  • 1-2 years in a technical manufacturing position.
  • Basic understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.
  • Proficient in developing process sheets, visual documentation, and assembly line layouts.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, AutoCAD, and advanced Excel (macros, tracking tools).
  • Experience with UL standards (UL508A, UL67, UL891) is highly preferred.
