Job description

This position is located in St. Marys, GA.

Maintenance and Modernization has openings for Manufacturing Technicians. In this role you will be responsible for performing manufacturing work to support delivered ships at the EB East site.
The successful candidate must be flexible as well as adaptable, working in a team environment.

A Manufacturing Technician is a multi- disciplined professional who must possess one or more skilled trades qualifications. Welders, Ship-fitters and Pipe Brazers are particularly sought after for this position. Candidates shall be experienced in reading blueprints and math skills necessary. Candidates shall be willing to learn new skills and apply them as needed with the appropriate training.

In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to know, comply with and participate in site improvement goals for Safety, Quality, Cost, Schedule and continuous Improvement. Employee may be required to work other than normal duty hours, to include evenings, weekends, and/or holidays. Shift work and emergency overtime may be required.


Required:

  • High school Diploma / GED
  • 6+ months experience in shipbuilding, ship repair, and/or manufacturing industry
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Respiratory Protection certification
  • Must be able to qualify and maintain Lifting & Handling / Industrial Trucks certification
  • Travel to other locations in the continental United States is required.
  • Must be willing to accept extended work assignments.

Preferred:

  • 1+ year working in an industrial marine or Navy environment
  • Welding / Ship fitting experience

  • Ability to use NAVSEA/SP ships drawings, technical manuals, ship system manuals and various other documents in the performance of this task
  • Must have the ability to perform the functions of the craft to the proper procedures and policies in a safe manner
