Job description

Manufacturing Engineer - Metal Fabrication Industry

**Position Responsibilities: **

  • Develop, design, specify, test and maintain records for production equipment, tooling, gauges, jigs, and fixtures to optimize manufacturing process, including safety, quality and efficiency by studying product requirements and applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout
  • Project manage assembly and manufacturing projects
  • Design and analyze labor and space requirements, product design, quality requirements, workflow, layout of equipment and workspace to maximize efficiency, consistency and effectiveness of manufacturing and assembly operations and projects
  • Collaborate with design and manufacturing teams to design processes that produce product within product and process specifications
  • Review and analyze product sketches, designs, models, and drawings to make recommendations to improve manufacturability; provide design support for manufacturing projects
  • Promote company safety policies and develop technical solutions to improve operational safety
  • Work with maintenance team, and outside contractors to improve current equipment and processes, improve performance, and minimize equipment downtime
  • Support and participate in lean initiatives, and develop the assembly and manufacturing processes to provide customers with products that meet or exceed customer requirements and drive continuous safety, quality and productivity improvements
  • Assist in response to infant warranty claims and quality issues with root cause analysis and corrective actions

**Position Qualifications & Requirements: **

**Education: **

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering/Technology, or equivalent experience

Experience:

  • Five (5) years of experience in sheet metal fabrication industry is preferred
  • Experience with designing, specifying, and developing production tooling, gauges, jigs and fixtures preferred
  • Experience with sheet metal manufacturing technologies, including fabrication, finishing, welding (both steel and aluminum), and material handling is preferred
  • Experience with DFM, DFMEA/PFMEA and their applications is preferred

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent working knowledge of fabrication, assembly, manufacturing, and coating processes
  • Skilled in Solid works or 3D modeling software is required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs is required
  • Proficient Project Management skills; and excellent organizational skills
  • Ability to engage peers, direct reports, and other associates to solve problems and develop improved methods, resolve issues or constraints

You should be proficient in:

  • Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering
  • Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Mechanical Design & Engineering
