Job description

OW Lee TX Inc. is seeking an experienced accounting professional to oversee the day-to-day accounting function and lead its accounting team. We're looking for someone who enjoys taking ownership, building strong processes, and leading a small accounting team. If you're equally comfortable reviewing financial statements, improving workflows, and coaching employees, we'd like to hear from you.

Summary: The Accounting Manager directs the daily activities of the accounting team, AP, AR & Billing, ensuring work is prioritized, deadlines are met, and financial information is accurate and reliable. He/she provides leadership to the accounting team while remaining actively involved in the department's accounting operations. He/she oversees all aspects of financial reporting and is responsible for developing and maintaining policies and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. Key responsibilities include meeting reporting deadlines, managing general ledger activities, month end closing, supporting budget and forecasting activities, and ensuring effective cash management & overseeing audit preparations. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise the accounting team to meet financial reporting deadlines, provide guidance to staff on handling non-routine reporting transactions, and provide training and ongoing support for new and existing staff.
  • Address personnel matters, including staff conflicts, absenteeism, and performance issues, in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Possess a thorough understanding of financial reporting and general ledger structures.
  • Oversee accurate and timely month end, quarterly, and year-end financial closings.
  • Ensure timely preparation, accuracy and submission of monthly financial reports.
  • Manage daily banking and cash management operations.
  • Ensure compliance with credit card and banking regulations.
  • Perform monthly and quarterly bank compliance activities in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Support budget development, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Collaborate with other department managers to achieve organizational goals and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze departmental workflows to enhance efficiency and resource utilization while maintaining accuracy.
  • Respond to inquiries from Executive Management, banking partners, accounting firms, government agencies (e.g., IRS), dealers, and other financial institutions regarding financial results and reporting.
  • Coordinate and ensure successful mid-year and year-end audits in collaboration with Executive Management and external accountants.
  • Develop and implement new procedures and processes to improve departmental workflows.
  • Establish annual goals and objectives for the accounting department, monitor progress, and promote professional development among team members.
  • Assist Executive Management and external consultants with special projects and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications: To successfully perform this role, you must demonstrate the following qualifications:

  • Five or more years of progressive accounting experience
  • Previous experience leading or supervising an accounting team
  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting, general ledger accounting, and month-end close procedures
  • Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash management
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel
  • Experience using a manufacturing accounting system; Experience with Epicor Enterprise Software or other ERP accounting systems is a plus.
  • A bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred
