Description
Manitowoc County is seeking qualified and dependable Sign Language Interpreters to provide interpreting services on an on-call basis. Interpreters will facilitate effective communication between Deaf, hard-of-hearing, and hearing individuals in a variety of settings, including meetings, appointments, trainings, community events, educational programs, and other assignments as needed.
Essential Responsibilities
- Provide accurate and impartial interpretation between spoken English and American Sign Language (ASL).
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional interpreting standards and ethics.
- Arrive prepared and on time for assigned interpreting engagements.
- Adapt interpreting services to diverse environments and communication needs.
- Collaborate professionally with clients and staff.
Requirements
Qualifications
- Certification through Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) or equivalent credential.
- Must hold a current Wisconsin Sign Language Interpreter License issued by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
