Managing Director, Business Events

This is a hybrid role that works 2-3 days per week in office on average. Applicants must be based in/near the Atlanta area to be considered for this role.

The Managing Director (MD) is a hands-on local office leader. The MD leads the Sales, Experience Design (Proposal Development), and Operations teams in day-to-day business operations, while supporting all aspects of business development in the local market. Reporting to the Regional Vice-President, the MD provides the office team guidance and support in the areas of problem resolution, compliance to PRA standards and best practices, key client and strategic partner relations, sales goal attainment as well as specific responsibilities related to the P&L of the office.

Primary Responsibilities

Destination Leadership

  • Oversee management of office Sales, Creative, and Operations functional areas, providing day to day support and guidance to the local team
  • Support local recruiting, on-boarding, and training efforts of new team members
  • Create and maintain a positive work culture and environment by mentoring and motivating team members

Business Development

  • Lead local business development efforts including building and maintaining hotel and supplier partnerships; relationships with local industry partners; developing Sales strategy and marketing plans; product development
  • Support team with site inspection planning and execution and client presentations to win business opportunities for targeted accounts
  • Lead the Sales process on highly strategic, large scale revenue opportunities
  • Represent the office in local industry functions

Business Operations

  • Collaborate with Regional Vice-President on the development and implementation of business strategies supporting PRA's corporate initiatives
  • In collaboration with Regional Directors of Experience Design and Event Production along with PRA's Central Creative Team, identify, develop, and manage relationships with local supplier partners to support the evolving needs of the business and leverage the PRA brand
  • Collaborate and support the Operational team to ensure flawless program development and execution
  • Collaborate with centralized Sales and Creative functional leaders to elevate needs for specialized or supplemental resources as needed on a project basis

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field, or equivalent relevant experience, or a combination thereof preferred
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent sales and client relation skills
  • Working knowledge of computer usage including database, Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally through email and phone with clients, suppliers, and Field Staff
  • Possess proactive and analytical problem-solving skills. - Knowledge of local area attractions, hotels, city streets, parks, and other venues
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including general office hours, weekends, frequent evenings, and some holidays
  • Ability to work within deadline constraints and set priorities
  • Possess a professional manner and appearance when representing PRA
  • Ability to perform multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize responsibilities and work assignments
