Job description

Housekeeping Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Housekeeping Director to join our team at Delmar Nursing & Rehabilitation in Delmar, Delaware. As a Housekeeping Director, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of our environmental services departments, including departmental policies, procedures, job descriptions, and manuals.

Responsibilities:

  • Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the environmental services departments

  • Assist in the development and implementation of departmental and administrative policies/procedures

  • Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter and intra-departmental personnel

  • Supervise and monitor work of department personnel to ensure compliance with directives and established policies/procedures

  • Serve on various committees as required or appointed by the Administrator

  • Ensure Residents' rights to fair/equitable treatment, self-determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights

  • Assist in recruiting, selecting, training, scheduling, time and attendance, and evaluations for department personnel

  • Routinely inspect the facility to ensure cleanliness and sanitary standards are met at all times

  • Develop and participate in in-service education programs, on-the-job training, and orientation classes for personnel

  • Requisition, control, and maintain an adequate level of required supplies/equipment and assist with budgeting

  • Maintain current written/computerized records of department data and assure that adequate financial records and cost reports are verified as required

  • Meet with department personnel periodically to solicit advice from other supervisors/managers on the operation of the department

  • Assume the authority, responsibility, and accountability of directing the housekeeping and assisting maintenance departments

  • Review complaints and grievances, making necessary changes with appropriate follow-up

  • Contribute to environmental safety issues and participate in your own protection, identifying hazards and recommending/monitoring abatement
