Director, Credit - Healthcare & Life Sciences

Trinity Capital Inc. (NYSE: TRIN) is an internally managed alternative asset manager that seeks to deliver consistent returns for investors through access to private credit markets. We are looking for an experienced Healthcare & Life Sciences credit professional to join our world‑class team as a Director, Credit. This is a high‑impact role within a publicly traded organization, partnering with the Healthcare & Life Sciences Vertical Market Leader and Credit team to support and execute the firm's credit strategy. The Director will carry meaningful ownership of credit decisions, underwriting standards, transaction review, and portfolio management within the Healthcare & Life Sciences vertical.

Job Description

The Director, Credit & Portfolio will be responsible for credit underwriting for prospective new portfolio companies as well as managing existing portfolio relationships. The successful candidate will have at least five years of directly applicable credit experience and will be deeply familiar with performance metrics ideally from Life Sciences/Healthcare industries and business models. This full‑time position reports to the Managing Director and is based on‑site at Trinity's San Diego, CA office, with exposure to leading venture capital investors and a wide cross‑section of emerging growth companies.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and review submitted data from prospective portfolio companies; work with Originations team and Client Company management on gaps or deficiencies.
  • Evaluate and summarize financial data from prospective client companies; identify key assumptions, trends, and inconsistencies.
  • Work closely with the Originations team on the assessment of new opportunities and develop ideas for transaction structure.
  • Conduct deep‑dive analyses of prospective client companies' financial results, forecasts, business plans, intellectual property, and collateral.
  • Participate in due diligence, including calls with client company executive management, investors, and customers.
  • Prepare investment committee presentation material and present analysis results to the Credit Team and Investment Committee.
Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in a business discipline, preferably Finance.
  • Minimum of eight years of industry experience in investment banking, accounting, or consulting.
  • High level of proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial modeling.
  • Familiarity with the terms of venture equity investing and capital structure preferred.
Compensation

The annual base salary range for this position is $170,000-$200,000, plus performance-based bonuses and restricted stock awards.
