Job description

Snap Inc is a technology company. We believe the camera presents the greatest opportunity to improve the way people live and communicate. Snap contributes to human progress by empowering people to express themselves, live in the moment, learn about the world, and have fun together.

The Company operates Snapchat, a visual messaging app that enhances your relationships with friends, family, and the world, and Specs Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary dedicated to making computing more human, in addition to Bitmoji, Saturn, and other digital services.

Snap Inc. is looking for an Art Director to support the SPECS Marketing team. This role will develop creative from concept through execution across a portfolio of key partners, brand campaigns, and marketing briefs. You will concept and create integrated campaigns spanning photography, film, web, social, AR, experiential, and emerging platforms-developing visually compelling ideas and design systems that influence consumer behavior and drive impact through ideas, craft, and innovation.

You will work with senior creatives, designers, copywriters, strategists, marketers, and production partners to develop breakthrough concepts and bring them to life across multiple channels, with the ultimate goal of crafting world-class brand campaigns, content, and AR creative.

This is a player-coach role: you will both lead and direct the work and act as a hands-on creative and designer, jumping into files to concept, design, and build key assets yourself. You will be comfortable developing the big idea for a campaign, defining its visual language, directing its execution across photo and film production, and translating that thinking into digital, web, social, and experiential experiences.

What You'll Do:

  • Creative concept development and visual ideation for integrated brand campaigns, partner initiatives, AR experiences, and marketing briefs

  • Develop big-picture campaign concepts and creative platforms that can extend across photography, film, web, social, AR, experiential, and emerging formats

  • Concept and art direct photo shoots and film productions, developing visual treatments, shot lists, storyboards, casting direction, wardrobe direction, production design, lighting, and overall visual language

  • Partner with producers, photographers, directors, cinematographers, stylists, editors, and other production partners to bring creative concepts from pre-production through final delivery

  • Concept and art direct web and digital experiences, including campaign sites, landing pages, interactive experiences, and other digital touchpoints

  • Develop concepts and visual systems for social-first content, including campaign extensions, short-form video, photography, motion, and platform-native creative

  • Translate overarching campaign ideas into cohesive visual systems that work consistently across channels while adapting appropriately to each medium

  • Inspire, guide, and motivate designers and copywriters to craft thoughtful, impactful creative through strong art direction

  • Partner closely with copy counterparts to develop cohesive, integrated ideas

  • Utilize storytelling and strategic thinking skills to present creative concepts to creative directors, strategists, marketers, and key stakeholders

  • Develop and present creative treatments, mood boards, visual territories, campaign concepts, and production approaches

  • Collaborate with comms planners, strategists, and producers to understand campaign performance and apply learnings to future creative

  • Manage and mentor junior creatives to elevate conceptual thinking, craft, and execution

  • Oversee visual execution across scripts, pitches, storyboards, treatments, presentations, and marketing materials

  • Concept, design, and build high-fidelity campaign assets and AR experiences yourself, from early explorations through final production

  • Jump hands-on into design files (e.g., Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) to iterate layouts, typography, visual systems, and campaign assets alongside the team

  • Personally execute key design deliverables on priority projects while balancing art direction and leadership responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal and external production partners to ensure creative and design intent is carried through from concept to final output across film, photography, digital, social, AR, and experiential touchpoints

  • Maintain a high level of craft and visual consistency across every expression of a campaign

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high-impact, culturally relevant brand campaigns and integrated creative work

  • Expertise in art direction across photography, film, digital, web, social, AR, and experiential platforms

  • Strong creative concepting skills with the ability to develop a campaign from an initial insight or brief into a compelling overarching idea and visual world

  • Experience developing 360 brand campaigns and translating a core creative concept across multiple channels and formats

  • Strong understanding of photography and film production, including treatments, casting, locations, wardrobe, production design, lighting, cinematography, and post-production

  • Experience concepting and art directing photo shoots and film shoots from pre-production through final delivery

  • Strong understanding of web design, digital experiences, and interactive storytelling

  • Experience developing social-first creative and adapting campaign ideas for different platforms, audiences, and formats

  • Ability to lead and guide designers and creatives across multiple projects and workstreams

  • Strong conceptual thinking grounded in human insights, culture, storytelling, and problem-solving

  • Exceptional eye for design, composition, typography, color, photography, motion, and visual storytelling

  • Experience developing visual systems, storyboards, creative treatments, mood boards, and design frameworks that clearly communicate ideas

  • Ability to collaborate closely with copywriters to bring ideas to life holistically

  • Strong presentation and storytelling skills, with the ability to articulate creative concepts and visual ideas clearly and compellingly

  • Comfortable giving both design and conceptual direction

  • Proven hands-on design craft, with the ability to independently execute production-ready visuals across digital, social, web, and AR

  • Expert proficiency in modern design tools including Figma and Adobe Creative Suite, with comfort working directly in files to push craft

  • Ability to switch fluidly between high-level creative concepting, art direction, and detailed hands-on design execution as project needs evolve

  • Strong understanding of creative, design, production, and marketing processes

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving, and sometimes ambiguous environment

  • Excellent creative, presentation, and problem-solving skills, with an eye for small details and a passion for big ideas

  • Comfortable giving both design direction on projects

Minimum Qualifications:
