Job description

NABRICO Marine Products is seeking a safety-focused General Laborer – Set Up Crew to join our team in Ashland City, Tennessee. In this role, you will support barge production by preparing work areas, setting up equipment, assisting welders and fitters, and performing a variety of production support tasks throughout the manufacturing facility. This position is essential to maintaining an efficient workflow and ensuring production teams have the tools, materials, and work environment needed to safely build high-quality marine products.

What You'll Do
  • Set up work areas and prepare barges for fabrication and production activities.
  • Assemble, relocate, and dismantle scaffolding and work platforms while following all safety requirements.
  • Move welding machines, tools, leads, hoses, grinders, and other production equipment throughout the facility.
  • Operate grinders and other hand and power tools to remove slag, weld spatter, burrs, rust, and surface imperfections.
  • Prepare steel materials and fabricated components for welding, painting, and final assembly.
  • Perform tack welds as directed to assist fitters and welders with part alignment and assembly.
  • Deliver materials, tools, and supplies to production personnel as needed.
  • Assist with moving steel, fabricated assemblies, and production materials using appropriate equipment and safe material handling practices.
  • Support welders, fitters, crane operators, and other production employees with daily manufacturing activities.
  • Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the facility.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Participate in safety initiatives and continuous improvement activities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need
  • Previous manufacturing, construction, fabrication, welding, or industrial experience is preferred but not required.
  • Experience operating grinders, hand tools, and power tools is preferred.
  • Basic welding experience, including tack welding, is a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Ability to safely set up and work from scaffolding and elevated work platforms.
  • Ability to read a tape measure and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Strong work ethic, dependability, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe, clean, and productive work environment.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
  • Ability to work in an industrial manufacturing environment while wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to frequently lift, carry, push, and pull materials, tools, and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb ladders, and work from scaffolding throughout the shift.
  • Ability to work at elevated heights and in confined spaces as required.
  • Ability to work around welding operations, overhead cranes, forklifts, grinders, and other industrial equipment.
  • Ability to work in varying temperatures, dust, noise, vibration, and other manufacturing conditions.
  • Willingness to work overtime, weekends, and holidays based on production needs.
