A Day in the LifeJoin the Finance Digital Technologies organization, partnering with leaders across Controllership, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, and other Global Finance functions to modernize how finance operates through enterprise platforms, advanced analytics, automation, artificial intelligence (AI), and data-driven decision support.The Sr. Director, IT Business Partner to Finance, Planning & Analysis serves as the strategic technology partner to Finance leadership, shaping the vision, roadmap, and execution of initiatives that strengthen financial planning, reporting, controls, and operational efficiency. This role leads complex transformation programs, including SAP S/4HANA migration and enterprise structure simplification, while collaborating with Finance stakeholders, Information Technology teams, and external partners to deliver scalable solutions that advance business performance and support future growth.
This role follows Medtronic's flexible workplace model and requires a minimum of four days per week onsite at one of Medtronic's major U.S. operational hubs, including Minneapolis, Minnesota; Lafayette, Colorado; Mansfield, Massachusetts; or North Haven, Connecticut. As a highly collaborative leadership role driving enterprise Finance transformation, regular in-person engagement with Finance executives, technology leaders, implementation partners, and cross-functional stakeholders is essential.
Primary Responsibilities
Serve as the primary strategic technology partner to Finance leadership, translating business priorities into technology strategies, investment plans, and multi-year transformation roadmaps.
Lead technology planning and execution for Finance transformation initiatives, including SAP S/4HANA migration, enterprise structure redesign, and modernization of Finance applications and processes.
Partner with Finance stakeholders to define and deliver solutions supporting financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, consolidations, management reporting, external reporting, analytics, and Finance Shared Services.
Drive enterprise data and process simplification initiatives, including redesign and consolidation of finance structures such as profit centers, cost centers, and chart of accounts while ensuring continuity of reporting and analytical capabilities.
Champion the adoption of advanced analytics, intelligent automation, and AI-enabled solutions that improve operational efficiency, decision support, and business performance.
Build and maintain effective partnerships with internal stakeholders and external system integrators and technology providers to support successful delivery of strategic initiatives.
Provide leadership for governance, issue escalation, executive communications, and cross-functional coordination across complex global transformation programs.
Ensure Finance technology solutions incorporate strong controls, data governance, security, privacy, and Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance requirements.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree with 15+ years of Information Technology experience, or an advanced degree with 13+ years of Information Technology experience.
10+ years of leadership experience managing global teams, enterprise technology portfolios, and large-scale business transformation initiatives.
Experience leading or supporting SAP S/4HANA migration, implementation, or integration programs, including redesign of enterprise finance structures and business processes.
Experience supporting Controllership, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Finance Shared Services, or other enterprise Finance functions.
Experience with one or more of the following platforms: Vistex, Varicent, or OneStream.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading large-scale Finance transformation programs involving consolidation and simplification of enterprise finance structures, including profit centers, cost centers, and chart of accounts.
Experience implementing and supporting solutions for financial planning, consolidations, management reporting, external reporting, finance analytics, and finance data platforms.
Demonstrated success partnering with global system integrators and technology providers in complex enterprise resource planning and digital transformation programs.
Experience strengthening financial controls environments, including governance, compliance, and SOX control frameworks.
Experience leveraging artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, and intelligent automation technologies to transform Finance processes and decision-making capabilities.
