Job description

We are seeking a results-driven Purchasing Specialist to support manufacturing operations by procuring products for resale, materials, supplies, and services in a timely and costeffective manner. This role requires someone who understands the importance of controlling costs, following purchasing policies, and supporting the company’s bottom line, while meeting customer demand.

The ideal candidate brings a strong balance of strategic thinking and hands-on execution, with a clear focus on delivering value and maintaining operational continuity.

Essential Functions

  • Issue and track purchase orders, ensuring accurate quantities and delivery timelines.
  • Maintain appropriate stock levels to meet customer demand while minimizing overstock.
  • Communicate product availability, lead times and price changes effectively to the team.
  • Obtain competitive pricing and compare quotes to ensure best value, not just lowest price.
  • Support sales by coordinating special orders or project specific materials
  • Maintain accurate vendor information, pricing records, and purchase documentation.
  • Coordinate with Sales, Production, Maintenance, and Planning to understand material needs and manage customer orders.
  • Assist with inventory counts and cleanup of obsolete or slowmoving items.
  • Follow company purchasing policies, approval limits, and internal controls.
  • Ensure purchase orders are properly authorized and documented.
  • Match purchase orders with receipts and invoices; work with vendors to resolve discrepancies and damages.
  • Prepare basic purchasing reports (open POs, price variances, usage trends) as requested.

Education, Experience and Key Competencies

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • 2-5 years of applicable experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite of products
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional teams
