Job Summary

This position will participate in the design development and modification of various structures, equipment and systems for conversion, refurbishment, and upgrades to mobile offshore drilling units. Position duties include development of work packs, scopes of work and procurement specifications, vendor expediting, and resolution of engineering issues arising in a global fleet. Supervise OEM and Third-Party contributors to complete surveys and identified scopes of work. Responsibilities also include accurate scheduling, budget preparation, communication and presentations to integrate into the corporate stage gate process. Travel to worksites will be required and may be up to 40% per year.

Job Description

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for all aspects of project planning for Mechanical, Drilling and Marine systems and equipment to include scope identification, scope definition, cost estimation, and work pack development.
  • Development of verified deliverables to explain scope, justify scopes, handover to execution personnel.
  • Coordinate with and supervise OEM's and 3rd party contributors to conduct surveys, site visits, vendor surveillance, off-site planning.
  • Attend rigs, shipyards, worksites, vendor facilities as required for surveys to support project planning activities.
  • Coordinate with OEM's and 3rd party contributors in project estimating activities and cost reduction techniques.
  • Develop and maintain dialog and interface with internal engineering stakeholders for scope validation.
  • Plan and track project procurements with project managers and internal purchasing departments.
  • Actively contribute to Marketing Bid Support efforts by providing well developed work scopes and accurate cost estimates as required during the production of Project Cost Workbooks and Reactivation Cost Workbooks.

Education:

  • Minimum Required: HS Diploma. Along with Technical School and/or Military Service Training Certifications in relevant subjects.
  • Preferred Level: Bachelor's degree or higher.

Experience:

  • Minimum Required: Minimum 10 years relevant work experience with an offshore drilling contractor, aboard maritime vessels, or in a shipyard environment.

Skills:

  • Minimum Required: Must possess relevant computer skills, including knowledge of specialized engineering software suites used in the department for problem solving. Must be comfortable review general arrangements, block diagrams, flow diagrams and other relevant OEM documentation used when developing work packs. A good understanding of ABS, DNV, API, and related industry regulations and standards is required. Must have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Must be capable of simultaneously managing multiple tasks, and coordinating the efforts of others contributing to solutions to engineering problems Must exhibit effective written and oral communication skills. The individual must be able to work independently and within a team environment. Should be a self-starter and able to take initiative as required. Must be confident acting on assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
